    the zimm family

I was so happy to photograph this US Marine Corps family one more time before they move again. And I was so happy to get to know them and add them to my list of new friends while they were living here in New York. We did their last session in Central Park to give them a  true NYC vibe for their pictures. I’m hoping to cross paths with them again (maybe in their new home even) in the future. And if you guys are back this way again, we’re totally going out! Safe travels and good luck!!

    dean & jess’s goodbye party

If you follow along here on the bsquared blog or on my instagram, I’m sure you’ll remember this awesome family of super hero fame & the cutest little kids. Dad/Dean is an active duty Marine and just received orders to Okinawa, Japan. So they’re on their way to a whole new adventure. The Leathernecks MC that Dean is a member of, threw them a goodbye party a few weeks ago and I was there to say my goodbyes and take some pictures. When their oldest daughter read her speech there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Crying, laughing, drinking…it was a good night. I even made the board (awwww, thanks Jess!) from the Marine Corps Ball that Jess and some of the families I took pictures for invited me to. And now that they’re moving across the globe, I found out the secret to Dean smiling for real in pictures- drinking. So if our paths ever cross again, I’m making him get drunk before our session.

Best of luck to you guys! I’ll miss you and I really hope I get to see you again (in Japan. For sushi). Thank you again Dean for your service to our country!!!! Safe travels and hugs!

    the john family

Kinda a long story for this one, with a short session. This is one of the US Marine families I shot as part of my personal project. As it turned out that day, one of the boys and dad had a football commitment that they couldn’t break, but grandma was in from out of town. So we compromised (no way I was letting grandma out without a few photos) and took a few pictures of mom, grandma and the boys that were available and agreed to do a “real” session in the spring instead.  Please be sure to thank this great family for their service to our country! And look out for a do-over session on the blog soon.

    the litt family

A great session for my personal project of photographing active duty military families for free. My very first US Army family (loved their army theme colors!) who have twin girls and another girl on the way. They were so fun to work with and chat with along the way. Show them some thanks for their service to our country!

    the mcco family

My second (and possibly last, so sad!) time photographing this fantastic Marine Corps family. Introduced thru a mutual friend for my personal project (of photographing active duty military families for free), Jessica hooked me up with a ton of awesome Marine Corps families throughout this year. I was really sad when she told me she and the kids were moving back to California while her husband travels for work/training. I don’t do well with change. But I was glad I made a few new friends while they were here and staying in touch will be a must. Wishing them all good luck and for the time to pass really quickly for them all to be together again.
