Gorgeousness! Today’s shoot: the sta family

So do you see the absolute gorgeous kids in this shoot? Could they be any better looking? I don’t think so. This was a FUN shoot and I was so glad to be able to do it outside and with my 30D back in action!

This was a pretty last minute shoot- and a good story as to how they found me. This family lives right next door to the Led family who I did a shoot for about a month ago. They heard all the chaos and screaming in the backyard (that was the adorable little girl who wanted NOTHING to do with me or my camera) and saw the couch in the yard and really wanted to know what the hell was going on! The oldest daughter emailed me (and is apparently another one of my blog stalkers- yea!!) and wanted to set up a shoot with her siblings for a Christmas present for their grandparents. So gorgeous and sweet, too! We ended up going next door, borrowing the same burgandy chair and a half, sticking it in the backyard next door, and shooting away. The younger two girls have done some modeling (duh!) and just jumped right in with their modelly poses. The boy was not particularly thrilled with the whole deal, but he did a really good job faking it. And more importantly, I made HIM move the couch this time. The oldest girl looks so much like Kelly Ripa, right? She said she gets that often. She also told me that they are a very crazy family- they all stay up till like 4am every night- "like the Osbournes". They were awesome and fun and did great. I hope they love the pictures as much as I do!Img_5409sl Img_5405sl Img_5417sl Img_5431sl Img_5448sl Img_5467sl Img_5491sl Img_5458sl Img_5516sl Img_5522sl Img_5544sl Img_5555sl Img_5567sl Img_5574sl

Lots of this, some of that…

Cleaning up around here tonight: trying to tie up loose ends, unblogged matters, things on my mind, etc. So this post is going to be a mish-mosh of various stuff.

    1. Here is round two of Christmas/Holiday cards. Still more to come after this go-round.Sil2famcard Tarfamcard Thegilfamcard  AmbfamcardWlsfamcard Wollfamcard  Mcgfamcard Mckfamcard Powfamcard Regfamcard Rotfamcard ArlfamcardLanfamcard  Boefamcard CullfamcardDylfamcard Kelfamcard  Denfamcard

    2. Jack and Patrick both had their class holiday parties today (of course they were both on the same day!). I spent some time at both. Jack’s class made chocolate/candy/gingerbread houses (messy and oh-so-fun) and Patrick’s class had a dec-o-cupcake and ornament making theme. They both had a good time. Plus the fact that there was a bake sale at school today- they were all sugared up! I especially love the shot of Patrick and his lack of teeth with a candy cane. 3. MY CAMERA IS HOME! Mark called me today from the camera store and told me it came back today. I picked it up but haven’t tried it out as of yet. Later tonight for sure. I am so happy it’s back. It had better work and keep working! Oh, and no type of apology or note from Canon at all. They didn’t even say what was the matter with it- other than they fixed the "broken part". Super.Img_4397cbw

    4. New toy- John won an ipod touch at a work related christmas party. It’s mine now. Since it dosen’t get AM radio or Mets broadcasts it really dosen’t serve much of a purpose for him. I feel so technologically advanced- an ipod at long last. I am having a blast with it. Downloaded some great music and put some of my pictures on there too.

    5. the boys got some super cool new soccer (I mean football) shirts recently. One of my dad’s friends who is Portugese was in NY for a few days and was nice enough to bring some kits for the boys, complete with jersey, shorts, and the coolest stripy socks ever. Img_4311sc Img_4318sc Img_4320sc

    6. We also got a package from our Coach Graeme yesterday. He impresses me so much. Really, what other young, single, 20something guy, who lives in England, sends gifts to kids in America for Christmas!? He is so thoughtful and responsible- gotta love that! Here’s a refresher of how cute he is, too. We didn’t open the packages yet, waiting for Christmas morning. Graemehatspotty_005rc

    7. Almost wrapped up on photoshoots for this year. I have one more tommorrow morning and one on Sunday (talk about last minute for me, huh?). And then that’s it. Happy and relieved the year is almost over and I am almost on my way to Florida! Woohoo! And I’m getting my roots done on Saturday- I need it a little- ya think??Img_1960sc

    NYc alone at night-wow!

Img_4101sl After the shoot on Saturday, I took a cab up to Nelson’s restaurant (Uncle Jack’s Steak House). As soon as I got in the cab, I apologized profusely to the driver…his restaurant is on 56th between 5th and 6th. That’s right near the heart of the Christmas craziness- the tree is on 50th and 5th. The driver was not particularly pleased with me. I gave him a good tip though, so he loosened up by the end.

Nelson’s restaurant is so beautiful. I wish he wasn’t so busy so I could’ve hung out a little longer (longer than the 5 minutes I was there) and taken some pictures in there. After leaving him, I decided to walk leisurely alone toward the tree to take some shots at night. Walked up 5th avenue, which is very christmasy in itself, saw the tree (again), saw them filming the opening to that America’s Choir show at Rockefeller Center, some street music too. But man….it was freeeeeeeezing. Couldn’t feel my face after a few blocks. So while I had good intentions of walking all the way back to Penn Station, I wimped out and grabbed another cab at around 42nd and 5th back to Penn. Made it 10 minutes before the train home. Good timing and a good time. God knows when the next time will be that I will have a chance to walk around NYC alone!Img_4086sl Img_4087x

    1. A model with a s***load of diamonds around her neck at Img_4092x Harry Winston.

    2. The snowflake on 5th.

    3. Fendi with it’s sparkly belts. Cool, huh?

    4. The "bell ringer". He had to be labeled cause the fact that he’s standing in the mImg_4093liddle of 5th Ave ringing a bell, isn’t enough of a give away as to what it is that he does. Ya know, just in case you were confused. Glad I had the camera for this one!

    5. Cartier- also all sparkly. Inside and outside.

    6. St. Patricks at Night. Love this one.

    7. Img_4095sl (up on top) the musical snowflakes outside of Saks. I caught them right in time for the music part which I was glad about cause we missed that on Friday.

8.the tree at night. Great view, but those damn photographers who charge to take your picture were STILL in my way. Img_4105x

    9. Grand Central and the Chrysler Building- the chImg_4098slrysler bldg is my absolute favorite bldg in nyc. Img_4112x

Sorry, I know the pictures are sorta out of order, but most of you people are NY’ers, so you can figure it out!

the hus family: a first birthday party

On Saturday afternoon I was busy taking pictures for the Hus family in NYC for their little daughter’s first birthday. It was a great party (everyone looked like they were having a fantastic time from my view behind the lens) and I had a great time taking pictures. Everyone was so nice and all the little ones were super cute.

The party was in their building and it was a beautiful building! They have a fully decked out playroom for kids. It looked better than gymboree in there! Toys, slides, padded everything. It was awesome. Wish I had that in my house.

To get the babies attention I would blow raspberries while trying to take their picture. By the end of my time there, the birthday girl was making the same noise. Sorry, J! But at least I did get her attention! Img_1981sl Img_1984sc Img_1997x Img_2020x Img_2024sc Img_2043x Img_2090x Img_2175x Img_2265x Img_2302x Img_2373cbw

Sunday’s shoot: the blo family mini session

Had my very last Sunday shoot for the year with a very nice family who came to me as a friend of a previous client. It ended up being a very abbreviated session (I was not done yet) as the power went out due to the wind/rain. And due to the wind/rain, there was not enough natural light to proceed. Especially since these kids were so fast and so, so busy- they would have been nothing but big blurs without the help of a little light. I waited for a bit before leaving just in case it did come back on, chatting with the mom about summer camp, but no luck so we had to wrap it up early. Got some cute ones in though before the power went though. Just not a lot of them. I think this family might do a little better outside when the weather gets better- more room to run and be. Oh, and that hair! That gorgeous perfect color of deep red hair. Would love to see that in the sunlight. Img_4133s2f Img_4172slf Img_4145x Img_4196slf Img_4236slf Img_4246cbwf Img_4294sf
