    school valentines party

    web26

Every year the parents in the kids classes get assigned to one of the parties during the year. This year I got Halloween in Patrick’s class and Valentines Day in Jack’s class. Of course the camera (and Timmy who thinks he should really be in 4th grade NOW) came along too.

They made valentines for the patients in a local nursing home and rehab center and I think they had a good time doing it. They were all pretty creative. Then they also made some candy necklaces for themselves and ate a ton of yummy cupcakes and candy.

    a trip to nyc

Went into the city on Sunday with the boys and Uncle Nelson (John went to work). I wanted to pick up a new crumpler camera bag at Mecca (aka B&H Photo).

I already have one (the 7 million dollar home) but it’s so HUGE and heavy that it’s hard to bring on trips and just short outings where I don’t need the extra camera body, the flash, the extra lenses and accessories. So I went and bought the 4 million dollar home which is perfect for travelling. I can fit in one 5d body with the big 24-70L lens on it, plus the 50mm lens and the Lensbaby too. Much lighter and easier to carry.

On leaving B&H, I somehow got stuck on the street that leads directly to the Lincoln Tunnel. And there is no turn off. Not to mention that it isn’t very well marked, so by the time I realized that I was going to be heading to Jersey, there was no turning back. So we made a brief yet unplanned and exciting trip to Weehawken, NJ. And then took the tunnel right back. Adventurey.

I must confess that it took me until I was 38 years  old to start driving in the city. I’ve been in many times via train or riding in someone else’s car, but was always terrified to drive in the city myself. But now with the navigation system, it’s a snap. (Well, other than the slight New Jersey issue).

So with not much time left in the day, we drove down to Chinatown to pick up some dinner from the Peking Duck House (which is hands down the BEST chinese food ever) and walk around down there while they were getting it ready. Went to the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory (yum) and Uncle Nelson got sucked into buying Timmy some Pokemon cards. I got myself a cute stripey handbag for $20.

    mets seats

Have arrived. As you can imagine, I’m thrilled. Not really.

    web43

But John and the boys are pretty stinkin happy about having his Mets seats in our house as the last of Shea Stadium is just about gone. They came via UPS and are quite authentic- gum underneath the seats and everything.

I think they came at the perfect time…at the start of pitchers & catchers reporting and a new season of the Mets looming.

Now if I could just get them out of the living room (but they weigh like 100 lbs. Literally. ) I think they are going to live in the boys room. At least they are blue and not orange. See, trying to be positive. Just not in my living room.

edited to add: Thank you Uncle Joe! You are a good brother in law. I’ll carry the pillows! (he moved the seats to their new home- the boys room.)

    timmy’s birthday vegetable- at school

Timmy’s fantastic teachers Miss Allison & Miss Donna told me I could come in and help Timmy celebrate his birthday at school. I brought some ice cream cups (nothing says birthday like ice cream at 10:30am!) and a book (Timmy’s current favorite is the two sided DC SuperFriends book) and celebrated with his class (well, the kids that were there that day).

Timmy’s favorite part of his birthday? “When everyone sings Happy Birthday to me. That makes me feel good & happy!”.

    timmy’s 4th birthday vegetable- party & presents

    web51

I know, I know. I said I would post these like a week ago already. Sorry about the delay. Things are nutty as usual.

And before you even ask…yes, Timmy WANTED to wear a tie to his birthday party. Just like last year. All the moms there were calling him ‘risky business’, just without the underwear or crazy couch jumping!

For those of you who follow the blog, you know that we have week long birthday festivals here, with some kind of celebration each day for about a week. But last year for the boys birthday, Timmy said ‘birthday festival’ which sounded an awful lot like ‘birthday vegetable’. So it is now and forever going to be the birthday vegetable for any birthdays at the Beyrer’s.

Timmy had a great party at the rec center (ok, really where else do the Beyrer’s  have birthday parties? Out of the possible 13 kid birthdays so far in this house, 9 have been at the rec. What can I say? They do a great party and the kids love them!) with lots of friends from school and from life. He got tons of fantastic presents and had a blast playing with all his friends.
