    the butl rehearsal dinner

Ok, I know I usually don’t post client images on the weekends, but with last week’s record number of shoots, if I don’t post over the weekend I’ll be even more backlogged than I am!

This almost newlywed couple ( actually married for a week + now) came to me thru the bride’s sister (in the green dress) as I had done her family pictures a few times. I was asked to shoot the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. This dinner could’ve been a wedding itself! So many people helping to celebrate the couple with speeches, slide shows, laughs, toasts and tons of love.

The bride was sick (what a bummer, huh?) but you could never tell by looking at her. She was fiercly fabulous and a real trooper. I got about 5 minutes with the bride and groom outside before they had to return to their guests and the evening commenced. I loved the gold wall and couldn’t pass it up.

The bride’s family and friends were great and so happy for R. A big thanks to the bride’s sister R for all of her coordinating and help during the evening. Their speeches were sweet and funny. web232

Turns out that the bride is a bit of a photographer herself but is very, VERY picky about how she looks and often has the owner of the camera erase photos if she dosen’t like the way she looks  in them. I was told during one of the speeches that I had the toughest job that day. Hope you like the pictures, R and don’t make me erase any!

The groom’s dad, brother, friends and family had quite a lot to say during the speeches.

There was a crazy story about poop and grandma’s car during the groom’s brother’s speech. Grandma laughed so hard she was crying.

    5 for friday

Trying to make this a regular event here on the blog. Are you liking the 5 for friday posts or would you rather I just stick with posting client images? Feedback appreciated…

    1. I hate bad drivers. You know, the ones who drive about 5 miles an hour and then don’t even stop at the stop sign. Drives me f***** nuts.

    2. I am really officially in editing hell. With the 12 (yes, 12) shoots from last week, I’m not sure when/if I’ll catch up. I love the finished product but sometimes I’d like to leave out the middle part. Just the shooting and the posting of pretty pictures would be fine with me.

    3. LOVING my two new lenses so very much. There really is something to be said for that L glass. Yummy.

    4. Jack & Patrick have officially begun the orthodontic crusade this week. I say crusade because we have YEARS of this ahead of us. Besides the initial drama of worrying about it before it happens (gee, I can’t even imagine where they get THAT from…), the whole thing has been pretty great so far. They have both gotten seperators, multiple sets of impressions, and Patrick got his first set of back bands cemented to his upper molars today. We go back in a few weeks for the next bunch of work (Patrick will be getting a cemented retainer and Jack will be getting a cemented palate expander and partial top braces). Pictures to come when there’s really something to shoot. So far, can’t really see anything. They really are being troopers though.

    5. Shooting a wedding tommorrow (can you hear me squeaking with anxiety?) with Beth W. and a communion Sunday afternoon. So even though there are significantly less shoots this weekend, the wedding stress is ON. I’ll be fine once I’m there and shooting, until then…not so much.

And because a post is boooorrrinnnngg without pictures, here are a few of the boys I took recently.

    lawyers

Did some headshots recently for a project John and his partners are working on. They needed some updated pictures of them for some material a client will be handing out. Took Timmy along and went to their office with the camera and the kid (figured Timmy might be able to make them smile a little- he did, but not for the pictures).

    John:

Ok, so the question is, which version of John do you want representing you in court? The serious one above, or the angry or crazy versions below?: (by the way, the one on the right is the face he most often has on)

    web818

And this is probably why he has that face:

And apparently, he cleaned his desk before I came over. What you can’t see are the piles of papers on the floor and on the 4 chairs where I was standing to take the pictures. But then….everything was good.

Hope everyone has a productive day so your desk dosen’t look like this too.

  • babies,  children & families

    the crow family

This family has quickly become one of my most favorite to photograph. Not only are the kids sweet, good looking, and photogenic, but Mom and I think the same. There’s a lot of  “ahhh…just leave it like that. That’s what he/she is all about right now” when it comes to thumb sucking, face making, etc…the lack of “perfection” during shoots- which ends up being actually perfect.  Love that about them.

We crammed this shoot in on a Monday morning and let the big kids miss a little school for about an hour (well, the biggest boy was really the only one missing a little school, the little girl goes to preschool) and Daddy went into work a little on the late side. We had rescheduled a few times due to rain and other circumstances so I think we were all happy (well, Mommy and I anyway) to finally get this shoot done. So thank you to the whole family for working this shoot into your Monday schedule!

The kids are seriously great! Mr. T is such a good kid and we talked some about baseball and the myriad of other sports that he plays. He was patient and great with me and his siblings, and oh so polite.

    web617

Little Miss Z is such a little pip. She had a card that she made for me all ready when I walked in the door. Ummm, can you say LOVE?? She’s fiercely into the thumb so you will see that reflected in some of the pictures. And apparently the scrunched nose with mischevious eye twinkle is totally HER. Glad I caught it and that Mommy enjoys that I did!

    web716

The majority of the purpose of the shoot was to document the 6 month mark for the baby. So after Daddy left for work, Mr. T went to school, and grandma took Miss Z to the library, mommy and I got to work with the baby. The baby of yummy basket sitting, feet grabbing, chunky all over, leaning to the side, huge toothless grin giving, round peach fuzz headed, twinkly eye deliciousness?? Yeah, that baby.

    the gove family

This adorable little family from out in Brooklyn came to me by way of the roma family, who’s pictures I took a few weeks back. The shoot was a surprise gift for daddy for an early Fathers Day present. (love that)

    web815

So I saddled up and headed out to Brooklyn (yay for GPS) and spent a really fun afternoon with this great family walking down to Prospect Park and then all around it.

Their little girl was such a sweetie. She was full of energy and fun and smarts. She reminded me so much of Timmy’s best girl Olivia when she was 2 (so much so that I almost called her Olivia a number of times, and so much so that I had Olivia’s mom come look at the pictures on the computer while I was editing and even she was amazed about how much Miss N looks like Olivia).

    web158

The neighborhood was so great– photo ops galore. And the park…how I love Prospect Park. I recently learned that it was designed by the same people who designed Central Park. No wonder I like it so much.

The weather had been touch and go all day and it started raining JUST as I left their apartment to head back to my car. We lucked out.  And I even found the cutest little kids clothing shop and stopped in to buy Timmy a few cute dress up things. A successful day all around!
