the frozen orange bowl & the $12 dolphins

So here are the sporting events from our Dec/Jan Florida trip. They were all on disposable cameras so I had to wait to get them developed. So not used to that anymore.

John and Grandpa took the big boys to their first NFL game- the dolphins vs. the bengals. They got $12 tickets, so they really HAD to go. The boys had a good time. And going on a sunny, hot florida afternoon has to beat going on a freezing December day up here anytime. 89940005 89940003 89940002 89940006 89940007 89940025 89940026

We went to our second annual Orange Bowl game on Jan 3rd, and man, it was freaking cold!! The weather forecast said it was in the 50’s but there was NO WAY it was. It was definitely in the 40’s. Plus the fact that it was drizzling on and off all night, and we were up really high in the stands so we had a wind blowing! I ended up wearing about 7 layers- a long sleeved t-shirt, a sweatshirt, a heavy windbreaker sweatshirt, a lined windbreaker jacket, and another sweatshirt over that. And gloves. And I was still freezing! John keeps telling me that "some of us were more freezing than others" cause I had most of his clothes on too. So in my friend I’s word’s "Can’t. Raynauds." (I have raynauds syndrome which is where you lose circulation in your extremities when cold- so my fingers turn dead-fish white, and my nose, hands and feet are always freezing). And I don’t drink beer, so there was no warming up that night. We had the heat on in the car on the way home. In Florida!!! All wrong I tell you.

The game was great- very exciting. They had the usual jet flyover before the game which is SO LOUD. Although last year it was timed better with the national anthem. John always says that he dosen’t understand how 3rd world countries see/hear those jets overhead they don’t just freak out and say "okay, we give up". They are that intimidating in person. Really. The game was so exciting right up to the overtime ending with Kansas winning (which no one expected). While our whole family was rooting for Virginia Tech, of course Jack had to be different and route for Kansas. So he was happy in the end. I just hope it’s warmer next year!89920002 89920006 89920007 89920011 89920014 89920015 89920017 89930002 89930005 89930006 89930007 89930025

    heeeeere’s MEL

Img_5994sl_2 This man is THE crankiest, unfriendly, mean SOB EVER!! He lives at the same complex that my parents have their apartment in Florida. He is head of the fun police. He obviously hates kids. Whenever the boys are in the pool, all you hear from him is "watch your hair, Evelyn. They’re splashing again!". The boys know better than going anywhere near Mel in the pool. I saw him in the hallway once and said hi and he actually growled at me. Growled. WTF?

That all leads me to the story of last year when we there and he was being his usual "melness". John had really had it with him at that point. He was making comments about the boys being in the pool (really, they weren’t doing anything. Just playing in the pool. Not wild, not splashy. Just playing). So John just started mouthing "f*** you, f*** you, f*** you" over and over at Mel. It made John happy. I don’t think it made Mel happy. So this is John’s favorite picture from the tripImg_6001sl

the crib flip & football playoffs

A new trick of Timmy’s that we were just introduced to on Sunday night. Didn’t even know he could do it. While John and I watched him we both said "well, that’s no good". (click on the picture below to see bigger). The crib flip is quite funny- he basically does a forward flip into the crib, laughing the whole time. He even explains it step by step as he’s doing it. "okay, you move the bench over. you climb up and put your foot here. you put your other foot here. heeheeeheeeee. then you go in. haaaahaaaaaahaaaaaaa! I did it!!" Luckily, I just purchased all his bedding for his new "big boy" room Cribflip at pottery barn kids on Friday. I am holding off on the bed until after Disney as I need the crutch of papi’s at Disney (Timmy and I discussed the fact that there will be no more papi’s when he gets a big boy bed) and I need him in the pack and play at Disney. No point doing it now. And I figure if there is going to be a lack of sleep due to new sleeping arrangements, I can handle it better during the week break from school- not having to be anywhere in the morning will be a plus. The breaking of the papi habit isn’t going to be as funny as the crib flip. He is very attached- he needs one for his nose (which he just holds on his nose) and one for his mouth every night. I remember when we took the papis away from the big boys when they were the same age- actually like a month or two older. They were all set to give the papis to the papi fairy in return for a great toy (I think it was a new rescue hero). All was fine until it was lights out and then the screaming started…."I can’t BREEEEEEEEEEEEEEATHE without it!!!!!" Like heroin addicts. It wasn’t pretty. But they’ve managed fine since around the third night without it.

In other weekend news…we stayed in our pajamas (the boys and I anyway, John had to work today) all day Sunday and Monday. It was niiiiice. It was so freaking cold here that I was walking around inside the house in a hat. Nice touch, huh? John said I looked like a homeless person. Img_7956x

John and the big boys watched the Giants/Packers playoff game on Sunday night. It was an exciting game (yes, I caught a little of it in between pictures) and there were a few "I can’t look" moments. John and Patrick were rooting for the Giants, but Jack HAS to be different and wanted the Packers.Img_7978sl Img_7981sl

He was a little dissapointed. Can you tell?

    a wedding shower & a late night

I was asked to do some pictures at a bridal shower last night- and I had a GREAT time! I knew almost everyone at the shower thru many different avenues (friends, former co-workers, siblings/relatives of friends) and I’ve done pictures previously for quite a few of them. You’ll probably recognize a bunch of the faces at the shower from other posts/albums on the blog.

I have to say as a side note that’s it’s so cool walking into someone’s house and seeing pictures that I took enlarged and in frames on display throughout the house. Such a boost, ya know? That makes me so happy.

Anyway, the bride to be is such a sweet girl and I am soooo happy for her. I will be shooting the wedding in about 2 weeks so be on the lookout for those pictures soon. (They probably won’t be on the blog until late February as we are leaving for Disney like 2 days after the wedding so I won’t have time before to edit). The shower was at the bride’s sister’s house- who’s birthday it was earlier in the week. She was very generous not only opening her house for the shower, but giving up her birthday (which I have come to understand is a VERY BIG DEAL as she dosen’t like to share that date with anyone) to do it. We did hear quite a few times during the course of the evening that she gave up her birthday-it somehow made it into almost every conversation of the night. You’re a good girl, T! And Happy Birthday!

I had a great time shooting at the shower. It was a really fun, intimate get together. So easy to shoot when you know almost everyone there. She got some great gifts and I got some great shots. I was planning on doing my usual 2hr deal at the shower, but was having so much fun catching up with everyone and hanging out (after taking all the pictures) that it was around 2:30am before I left! Oops.

    Hope you all love the pictures!Img_7658x_2 Img_7691s Img_7718s Img_7744s Img_7644sl Img_7770s Img_7777s Img_7801s Img_7819s Img_7836x Img_7794s Img_7858s Img_7883s Img_7847cbw Img_7861s

    Scary same

I had Timmy’s parent/teacher conference today (cute, huh?). And it is scary hearing how much the same he is to his twin brothers. His teacher says he is doing great, loves school, getting better at sharing and taking turns, getting more involved in the art projects, etc. All good things. The only concerns were (which are all age appropriate according to his teacher) his difficulty transitioning from one activity to the next. The boys had the same "problem" in Nursery school, and really still do to this day. Well, they probably get that from me cause I don’t do well with change ("change is bad. we fear change."). I have to finish one project whatever it is before starting the next. And the other is articulation with his speech. We will get him screened in the spring. I understand everything he says, but his teacher dosen’t get all of it. But…he has a wonderful vocabulary, a great big imagination, is very social and outgoing, and a good little guy. Sounds like his brothers. Like exactly. Img_7610sl_2 Img_7632sltx Img_7625sltex

Tried a little texture on the pix of the big boys. What do you think?
