the brown & gray wedding
Those are their names. Seriously. And although the names aren’t colorful, the wedding and couple sure were! I met this couple briefly at a wedding I shot a few months back and they chose me to shoot theirs as well. They are both super nice, down to earth, layed back, and just a great couple. They had their mass at a church with a sweet little courtyard where we took most of the formal pictures. Unfortunately, it was SO SUNNY so we were kinda relegated to one or two small shady areas to avoid those harsh shadows. But we got what we needed nonetheless.
Aren’t they the cutest “ready made” family?
The mass was lovely. However the priest’s rules was no photographer on the floor during the mass, so I was sent up to the choir loft. Got some great shots from my birds eye view. Plus, there are always the Charlies Angels bridesmaids.
Then it was off to the reception in their backyard. I need to mention quickly that it had to be about 100 degrees on the day of the wedding and I was sweating buckets. But everyone had a great time and the kids were in the pool about 5 seconds after we got there.
The cupcake cake was fantastic (I didn’t taste it though). And the kids were swarmed around it like vultures.
In our pre-wedding meeting, I had asked the bride if she was interested in jumping in the pool in her dress. She was actually not shocked by the question and even said she had been thinking about it (okay, so you know I totally loved her from this moment on) and she would decide on her wedding day. Well, the decision was made and after she greeted all her guests “properly”:

Business (or busy-ness)
Ok, just a quick business post. Sorry for the interruption to shoots here on the blog. I’ll be back tommorrow with the wedding I shot about 2 weeks ago, so that’s something to look forward to, right?
1. I will be taking the month of August OFF. I have three more shoots to do this weekend, and then I will be on vacation until September. Need a break from shooting to refresh and get some creative juices flowing freer. Not to mention, I’d like to make it to the beach on weekends before the season is completely over. I’m sure John would probably like that too since he’s had the boys all weekend every weekend so far this summer!
There will still be blog posts here (like I said yesterday, I still have 6 shoots to edit and blog- not even including the 3 coming up this week) so stop by and visit. I promise there will still be stuff to see and read! Granted, a bunch of it will be about my family, but you still kinda like that, right?
And, when I say I’m taking August off- it’s not really all the way off. I will be doing all the post processing on shoots, posting to the blog, answering emails and phone calls. Just not doing any shoots. So if you need something or want to book a shoot, please contact me anytime bbeyrer1@optonline.net
2. Over my vacation, I will be working on some new stuff. (so see, it’s not entirely a vacation!) New pricing and packages for 2009 with some cool new ideas and add on’s. Christmas card templates for 2008. Plus, a possible class offering for 2009. But that part is dependant upon interest from you out there! So stay tuned for roll outs in late August/September on all of that.
3. If any of you are interested in booking a shoot at The Planting Fields in Oyster Bay, please note that there is an additional $50.00 fee for a shoot there. It is not my price (believe me, I think it’s a little ridiculous but it’s so gorgeous there it’s kinda worth it!) but they require a permit to shoot there and that permit costs $50.00 (It’s $120.00 for weddings!). Just something to keep in mind.
4. Dates for September-December are booking fast. Especially November. If you are looking for a beach shoot, September is the best time (the earlier in the month, probably the better) as the beach is pretty empty and everyone looks tan and rested.
Don’t forget that your shoot must be completed by Monday, December 8th to ensure delivery before Christmas!
And since a post is no good without any pictures, here are some of my handsome, almost 9 year old boys. Nine? NINE?? Just can’t be possible! Oh, and they are FINALLY getting their teeth in. Even though Patrick will not show you!

the landstar title company
Had a great and very different assignment this morning. Did some headshots for the owners of the Landstar Title Co. as they are going to be featured in the newspaper and had everything they needed for that, except the headshots! So that’s where I came in. I know there are a bunch of my clients out there waiting for their shoots (6 of you in fact!) and I’m sorry to take this shoot out of order, but they really did need their pictures right away. Deadlines as dictated by the newspaper. But yours are coming, I promise!
Wow, it was so different, not chasing, cajoling, tickling, singing to, clucking, jumping, playing peek a boo, or making raspberries at my subjects. They are such nice personable guys and I wish them only the best.

weekend update & more…
No, not the Saturday Night Live version either. But lots to catch up on…
- went to dinner tonight with John & Nelson (nothing like going out to eat with both husbands) to a restaurant in Smithtown called H2O. It was delish. Mostly seafood and delish funky sushi.
- had a shoot on Saturday morning and then while all the boys were at the beach, I went to Barnes and Nobel all by myself (bliss) and bought a ton of new books. I was all out and I always have to have something good to read. Really enjoying Laura Lipman books (thanks for that Ken!) so I bought a new one now that I just finished two others of hers. Also picked up a biography of Marie Antoinette which is great so far. A few others that looked good and were on sale.
- remember how I bought that new crumpler camera bag (looks exactly like the old one just bigger)? Well, I made a new friend in the process! When I offered the old bag for sale here on the blog, I had a taker out in Iowa who it turns out has been a blogstalker since I first started the blog. She said her husband always makes fun of her cause she reads all these blogs of people she dosen’t know (I do the same thing– I find photographers blogs whose work I love and visit everyday. I have about 45 that I visit daily!). So now that we have conversed a few times via email and that she now owns my old bag, she can say she does know me. Which leads me to my next point…
- i know you are out there blog stalkers! I’d like to get to know you so if you are so inclined, please leave me a comment here on the blog and introduce yourself? I get quite a large number of folks visiting here everyday and while I know who some of you are, there is no way I "know" all of you. So come out of hiding and say hi, ok!? It’s easy to leave a comment. Just page down to the end of this post, click on "comments" and fill in the info. I would really love to hear from you! C’mon…
- bought yet another new camera…but this one is just your run of the mill point and shoot digital. I need something I can just toss in my bag and take with me to events that I don’t want to lug the whole setup. I took some pictures with it at the beach the other day. I have to get over the fact that the picture quality will not be the same as the 5D’s (this is a difficult thing for me). But it is easy and small and convenient so I guess I’ll take the trade off. It’s great for what it is. And I’ll be sending it with John and the boys on their baseball trip. And of course, it’s a Canon. I’m very brand loyal!
- we went down to the beach on Friday- and it was a beautiful day. So that was my 5th visit to the beach this summer. August can’t come soon enough! Just one more weekend of working until September. We found 3 crabs on the beach (so rare) and I had to ‘crabsit’ the little one until the boys ran back to get the camera. One was small and alive. And then we found two big ones (unfortunately dead) but one was red and and the other blue. Pretty cool.
- We went to the Billy Joel concert- last play at Shea about two weeks ago (been so busy posting clients shoots that I haven’t blogged much about stuff around here) and it was a blast. John and I went (he also invited some clients from work) and we had fun. Yes, John had fun. It’s true. I swear. This would’ve been the perfect time for the small camera, but we are going to see the Police and Elvis Costello in a week or so, so I’ll bring it to that (hoping that it comes back alive from the baseball trip). Anyway, Billy Joel was amazing and he had several incredible guest appearances that night (we went to the Wednesday night show)- John Mayer, Tony Bennett, John Mellencamp, and Don Henley. Our seats were not so great in that we couldn’t see the stage much cause we were blocked by speakers and lights. BUT, we were in the first row of the upperdeck and the BOUNCING of the whole level was just crazy. The whole thing was seriously bouncing up and down all the way across Shea. My friend Jen was there and she was sitting in the section below and really thought the whole upper deck was going to just fall on top of her. It was nuts- but I liked it!
- Last, went over to the ‘crunchy club’ on Saturday night for the Big Wave movie/pool night where the kids can go in the pool all night and watch a movie on the big giant screen. It was Alvin & the Chipmunks this year and the boys had a bunch of fun. John’s partner from work, his wife and kids met us there and I think they had a good time too. The water was warm but the air was kinda cold so we had a lot of blue lips. We didn’t get home til around 11pm. Timmy made it thru the whole thing and had a blast too.
Think that about does it for the catching up. For now anyway. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Don’t forget to leave a comment and say hi!

the wed family 2.0
I’m sure you will remember this fantastic family with new twin boys and a gorgeous little girl from their shoot about two months ago. They are one of my ‘growing up squared’ plan families, so you will get to see them two more times after this shoot. Which is great, cause they are so cute!
The twins have filled out a bunch since their last shoot where they were only a little over a week old. They are developing their own personalities and sooooo close to smiling. Can’t wait to catch that next time! And sad but true, I have a hard time telling them apart. You would think oas a twin mom myself, I should be able to, but I really can’t. Plus the fact that they are fraternal and honestly do look different just makes it that much more pathetic on my part!
Mom is looking fantastic and big sister is as beautiful as ever. And although she really didn’t want to hold the boys, we did have some fun- the two of us hanging out in the giant bathtub in mom & dad’s bathroom. Seriously. There was some great light in there and I just couldn’t pass it up. See…
