    emily’s first communion

I had photographed this family twice before and was looking forward to doing so again. The kids are so gorgeous and I was surprised by how much they’ve grown since our last shoot in the fall. Emily looked like a real princess (loved her dress) and was so well spoken when she did her reading in the mass. It was a really packed house in St. Agnes that day and I was so surprised by how composed she was up there in front of everybody. Great job, Emily!!

    How beautiful is she?

Little sister wasn’t thrilled with the picture taking process, but holding the flowers was definitely a help!Doesn’t mom (still) look like Julianne Moore? The closest thing I got to a picture of the 4 kids together. The little guy was just not having it!I love this shot so much. Just sums everything right up!The wind was an issue. Until it was blowing the right way.So composed. How proud does mom look? This is only half the class of kids who received their first communion. It was a popular day! Lots more communions coming…

    the great bathroom remodel

I wasn’t going to post today, but my 2nd out of 3 shoots for today cancelled (rescheduled actually) due the yet again crappy weather. So I’m home for a little bit and figured I’d post something for everyone else home and bored on another yucky day. Not that my blog is that exciting, but it’s something to read for 5 minutes.

When we did our house extension back in 2001 or so, we never did the main upstairs bathroom. It didn’t really need it and we were running out of money fast! But recently it started leaking into the kitchen so we knew we couldn’t put it off any longer. So we got started on the ‘great bathroom remodel’. So glad we did!!

    Before:

during:Gary, our awesome GC!!I’m a little obsessed with our glass accent tile. And after: It still needs a little something on the wall for decoration, but I have yet to decide what that something is.

If you are in the market for any kind of home renovation, I highly recommend our GC, Gary Casaceli. He was fast, CLEAN!!, nice, careful and very reasonable. You can contact him at 516.672.3985.

We used George from Reliable Painting who was also reasonable and did a good job 516.867.4767. He also did the kitchen ceiling which was all patched with new sheetrock. The color is Timberwolf from Benjamin Moore.

C&L Plumbing Supply in Lynbrook was where we got all the stuff where Lisa was great and helpful 516.599.6655, and Turnabout Plumbing did all of the plumbing 516.887.4411.

New York Shower Door for the glass doors 516.379.3535

Tile from Cancos in Lynbrook 516.593.5117.

And the lights over the medicine cabinets (btw, love those medicine cabinets- they are huge and mirrory!!) are from Restoration Hardware.

Hope you give the above guys some business. They were all really great, especially Gary!

    bands4life {new product}

My very good friend Jen’s business is really picking up and she’s adding new product all the time. We rounded up some models (Jen’s sister and husband- so it really didn’t take much rounding) and took some new shots for her site, which you can visit here: http://www.bands4life.net

They are working on pocket armbands that anyone can use (you don’t have to use an insulin pump/pod to use one) and I got a little prototype just for me. Please ignore my sweaty messiness. I had just come in from a run trying out the band with my iphone. It worked great and was really comfortable! And the iphone was very secure- I didn’t worry about it falling out or getting jarred. And it’s SO me with the pink and black polka dots. Love!

A portion of all proceeds from bands4life sales goes to JDRF. So if you know of anyone who uses an Omnipod or other insulin pod delivery system, tell them about Jen’s site and go buy some arm or leg bands!

    annabella’s 1st birthday

I really, really love my job! Not only did I get to be there as this little girl arrived in America, met her daddy and brothers for the first time at the airport, but I got to see her (and her mom & dad who I really adore) again for a 1st birthday shoot. She’s settling in beautifully and is so gorgeous and sweet and just so interested in everything! We played and I even got to hear a few little giggles. So sweet!!

    Is she not totally perfect?!

Jennifer said that when people see her and Ed with Annabella and without the boys, they think that she’s their first baby. They do have that glow of new parenthood though, so you could see why people think that. Jennifer, how much do I love you with the pearls and the Chuck’s?!The hat and the headbands never lasted long, but I worked fast and got my shots before she was able to rip them off!Love me some scrunchy noses.Giggles. Looks like the first picture, but a slightly different expression. She’s just SO gorgeous, I couldn’t leave one picture out! Lets do another shoot soon, ok? I can’t hardly wait until the next one!!!
