There’s a photographer that I really admire and love all of her work. So this was my attempt to do a styled shoot inspired by her work. And, Timmy really had a great time so it was fun for both of us.
A big thank you goes out to Aunt Ivy for the pool loan, Clare and Tammy for the flipper loans. It was a group effort.
Ok, did any of my blog stalkers ever see the documentary movie about Dogtown & Z-boys? I totally think Timmy looks like the b/w pictures of Jay Adams as a kid. Except minus the whole future ex-con thing. 
Doin the butt dance. A perfect ending (ha, ending– get it? sorry. I think I’m a little slaphappy from editing for hours on end.)

10 for Tuesday
Another tuesday, another tenfor.
1. So Sunday was my 42nd birthday. And after 10 years of my birthday being on 9/11 (ok, my birthday has always been on 9/11 but not THE 9/11) I have to say that it hasn’t gotten any better. Spent the morning and into the early afternoon watching the memorial on TV (I cannot not watch it.) and crying. Saw my friend and babysitter Liz reading the names at the memorial to honor her father and uncle who were both lost on that horrible day. Saw the names of many RVC residents, many of which I knew, went to school with, know the families. And the whole day just sucks. All I remember is the fear, the incomprehensible events of the whole day, the not knowing when it was going to end, and the mayor saying the loss of life would be ‘more than any of us can bear’. Watching people fall to their deaths. Not lost. Murdered. So, it’s impossible for me to get happy that day. I think after 10 years of trying to enjoy my birthday (a day which I loved until 10 years ago) is obviously a fruitless effort. A lot of people say that a birthday is a bright light on an otherwise horrible day. I disagree- there is no light that day. I decided next year I will be celebrating my birthday on 9/13. And if it was legally possible to change your birthday, I would.
2. Now that I depressed you (sorry), moving on to the good part of the birthday. Presents! Looky what I got!! (the amazing Tiffany purse is from John- the guy is on a roll lately with the great presents!- thank you JohnnyB!!, the camera is from me to…me!, and the little tin of candy sushi was made by my friend Beth and her son Stephen- super cute!) Oh, and the frame which coincidently matches the Tiffany box and bag is a little sneak preview for you of some of the custom frames I’ll be offering starting next week!
3. So the new camera is a 5d mark ii. And as my friend Kate would say… “I’m a smitten kitten”! All the better to take your picture with my dears. And really, how cute is that bag!?!
4. The big boys are playing on 3 different teams this fall. Middle school football (their first time playing), Little League fall baseball, and an NJBL travel team. And wow, the schedule is just overwhelming. I’m not sure how this is going to work out for them and when they’ll have time to do homework or eat some nights. But if we see that school is suffering from all the activities, something will have to go. Should be an interesting fall, huh?
5. For those of you who’s bsquared sessions are still coming up, you’ll be getting a new little add on in your order bags. A little brochure with all my new product offerings in it. I also found a new iphone case maker that you can design yourself today. So be on the lookout for those being offered soon too! Christmas is coming, afterall.
6. Been doing some shopping for the house and for the business (and sometimes the two kinda run into eachother) and have gotten some super cool new stuff.
New pottery barn coffee table (and another little sneak peek of the custom frames in the background)
New pillows and blankets. (I’m sure some of the blankets will make their way into a newborn shoot or two)
An old bread bowl. Again, can’t you just see the little baby all smooshed up in there with some nice squishy blankets?
Old rangefinder cameras. Going to get them cleaned up and try them out. Should be interesting and I can’t wait to try to shoot with film!
7. Heard a great quote yesterday about photography. It’s a camera, not a magic wand. Love!! (the bunny has nothing to do with anything, but he’s cute)
8. So you know how I have that Edward Norton thing, right? My cousin emailed me the other day to let me know that his movie 25th hour (which I love!) was playing in NYC on Sunday evening. With an appearance by the man himself. Yes, Edward Norton live and in person. And I couldn’t go. Didn’t want to go into NYC on 9/11. Ridiculous? Maybe. Did I blow my shot at meeting him? Possibly. I’m convinced it will happen some day. Any help available from any of you blog stalkers?
9. Today is picture day at Timmy’s school and I bought a package. The pictures are usually pretty bad but I feel too guilty not to buy them. I just get the lowest package, but I hate doing it.
10. Have some fun & styled shoots (of my own kids anyway) coming up on the blog soonish. Stay tuned. (the flowers don’t have anything to do with anything either. but i hate posting without pictures)

7 for Sunday
1. So we embark on our annual baseball trip tomorrow. And this is all I have to say about that.
We will be visiting Minneapolis, Chicago and Milwaukee. Expect to see me on Facebook ALOT. Hope all of my friends have their phones charged up cause I’ll be texting everyone non stop. I have the Kindle loaded and charged. I’ll be posting from the road both about our ‘adventures’ and also portrait sessions while I’m gone so the blog will be way busy. Come and visit and leave me comments to read, ok?!
2. So not only do I have to pack 4 people for the trip but I have to pack up the house today as we’re getting all of the hardwood floors sanded and re-urathaned while we are gone. Good times. I’m just hoping they are done by the time we get back and that house can air out from the stink quickly.
3. One of my Canon 5d classics died this weekend. When taking a picture horizontally, I would get a big black block the entire width of the bottom 1/4-1/2 of the photo. Not good. Looks like a loose mirror, shutter and/or focusing screen. And after my friend Kate borrowed my 70-200 lens (I never liked that lens and hardly use it ever) I found out why I never liked it. I think I got a bad copy- all the images are soft. I didn’t realize since I never shot with that lens before buying it- I just figured it was a little softer than the prime lenses). So into CPS (canon professional services) went the broken 5d and very soft focus 70-200. They shipped out from East Hampton (so fancy- but only because I had shoots out there yesterday afternoon) and I’m hoping they will be ready by the time I’m back from the baseball tour. And a big huge thank you to Kate and Shira who both offered the use of their cameras yesterday so I would have a backup. It’s so nice to have photografriends who are generous with their time and equipment!!
4. I’m happy to announce that I have become a member of OpLove (Operation Love Reunited), photographing full sessions for military members leaving or returning from deployment on a voluntary basis. I’ve had this project in my head forever and couldn’t make a go of it on my own since the military presence in this area isn’t so accessible. I’m hoping that this will send some my way for sessions. If you know of any local to Long Island soldiers heading out or returning from deployment, please feel free to pass on my info. You can find more about OpLove here: http://www.oplove.org/index2a.php
And if you are the praying type, please think of the 31 service members who gave their lives this weekend in Afghanistan. So sad for all of us but especially for their families left behind. I can’t even imagine.
5. Went to Ikea this week with another photografriend Lori and went a little crazy on the blankets for newborn sessions. Well, they already proved their worth this week on a fantastic newborn shoot. Pictures on that soon.
6. This week had the weirdest weather I think I have ever seen. Green skies, hail, torrential rain, rainbows, bible skies… all within a few hours of eachother. Some from the ‘real’ camera, some from the iphone. Oh, and by the way- I’m pretty sure the hail was all my fault. I was in the ocean 3 separate times in the last week which never happens. I think I set off some kind of ‘end of the world’ thing. Sorry about that.
7. Some iphone shots from the Paul McCartney and U2 concerts we went to in July. Just realized I never posted them.Went with the Healys and the Nevills to Paul McCartney and ended the night in some bar in the Bronx with Rosanna doing the electric slide at 1am. It was so fun!!!
Paul looked and sounded great. At 69 years old he still puts on an awesome show!! 
We took the big boys to U2 at the Meadowlands. They loved it!!

the fall 2011 bsquared calendar is now open for booking
Good morning, everyone! You can now book September- November for your bsquared photoshoot. A few things (please read first before booking your shoot):
-dates are limited and I’m not adding in any more this year. So please book now before you get shut out.
–November 20th will be the last day available to book sessions this year. I will not be taking any sessions after 11/20 for holiday delivery. Sorry, but NO exceptions. Very limited bookings will be available in December but your photos from December bookings will not be available to view until mid January 2012. If you have a December date, please email me so we can discuss booking it.
-dates and times will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. I WILL ANSWER ALL EMAILS IN THE ORDER IN WHICH THEY ARE RECEIVED. I will email you back as quickly as possible letting you know if you have your date and time. Please just keep in mind I have all 3 of my boys home all summer and am still working more than full time at bsquared. I will do my best to answer as soon as I can.
-when you pick your date and time, you can email them to me at bethbeyrer@yahoo.com
-sessions outside of Nassau County (especially Westchester and NJ) will have to be booked for the first appointment in the morning ONLY. (*unless the first appointment is already in that area. then you can book the 2nd appointment for the day. email me for details).
-there will be a few mini session days available. Mini sessions are only available at a specified location on on specific days.
-thru the end of September, BEACH SHOOTS ONLY at 5/6pm.
-if the date and time is in GREEN, it’s available. If it’s in black, it is not.
-there are still some dates left in August.

10 for tuesday
Wow, that week went so fast. Can’t believe it’s time for another installment of 10 for Tuesday, but here goes: (all pix are from the iphone)
1. Hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July weekend. I worked all day Saturday, stayed in on the rainy Sunday (but did a ton of work) and beached it on Monday. It turned out to be a gorgeous day!
2. Had dinner on Monday at The Fisherman’s Catch in Pt. Lookout and it was fantastic. The view didn’t stink either.
3. Working on so much bsquared stuff. New additions to the packing of your orders, new products, the fall bsquared calendar, the July newsletter, new vendors, ordering samples. All while trying to edit the 10,000 or so shoots that I’m behind on. I can’t wait to show you some of the new products- they’re awesome! Oh, and the fall calendar will be available for booking in about 10 days. If you haven’t yet signed up for the newsletter, you can just click on the purple tab on the left side of the blog.
4. Looking forward to photographing baby Jake this week. And of course his uberfabulous mom and dad. Haven’t seen them since the birth session and I can’t wait to see how he’s grown and changed already!
5. Saw Cars 2 this weekend- it was cute but I still liked the first one better. Also saw Super 8 with the boys last week and loooooooved it!! Patrick was freaking out saying “idon’twannawatchthismovie,idon’twannawatchthismovie” after the first 10 minutes, but then he settled in and ended up loving it. Highly recommend it. Shades of ET, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Stand By Me & It (Stephen King)- all my favorites.
6. Timmy has been “diving” as of late. It is THE funniest thing ever and I laugh every time I watch him dive. He looks like a cartoon character- he goes straight out. And then straight down. I will try to get it on video this summer.

9. Currently reading The Hunger Games on the Kindle and really enjoying it. My book list is so totally long and I just keep on adding more. Guess it’ll be helpful for the baseball trip…
10. Here’s the annual cousins shot from Fathers Day. If you receive my in law’s card, please forget the picture right after you see it so it’ll be a surprise on the card this year. Ok? Good. (oh and for those of you new to the blog, yes there are 8 first cousins. And they are all boys.)
