    rachel’s prom

Ok, so its not the actual prom, but the pre prom party at Rachel’s house. Rachel is my “niece” (the quotes because we are not actually technically related), I’ve known her since before she was born. She was my first baby girl and I had soooo much fun shopping for her- all pink hearts and frilly stuff. So you could imagine that I was welling up a little behind the camera while taking these. Feels like just a few months ago (it was actually 3 years ago!) that I was photographing her brother Adam’s pre-prom party and crying a little then too. But since she’s been hocking me to freaking death for her pictures (see, she takes after her very impatient Aunt Beth), I figured I’d go ahead and get them done so I don’t get any more daily texts.

You may remember Rachel from her senior session with me. Still gorgeous. And off to University of Tampa in just a few weeks for her freshman year!

She is a barbie doll. Dad’s reaction to seeing her in her dress the first time was priceless. With her mom (my BFF Heidi).Little sister Erica (3 years till I’m doing this again for her!) and puppy Reef.Nanny and Poppy.Aunt Elizabeth who I also adore. Another great reaction shot!Rachel’s date and boyfriend, Chris. Ahhhh, my girl makes me sooooo proud. She takes after me so much! (I told ya if you did it, I was posting it!)And they’re off…(They had a great time at the prom, I’m told). Hope you love them Rachel! Now stop bugging me.

    jenna’s prom

So with the “leprosy” going on around here (Jack & Patrick were sick with stomach viruses for 2 weeks) I am a little behind on editing. Trying to catch up and started with Jenna’s prom. They were lucky and had a beautiful day for their prom. A little before pictures at Jenna’s house with her friends and family, and then a few at the pre-prom party at her friend Tina’s (you might remember Tina from her sweet 16 I photographed a few years ago). Everyone looked fantastic and I’ve heard it was a great night.

    adam’s prom

After graduation, it’s prom time in Oceanside. Beautiful weather and lots of good looking guys & girls headed out for a big night.

So handsome! There were about 1,000 parents there and next to impossible to get in there for a shot of the whole group. Adam’s date (just a friend and a really nice girl!). Loved the color of her dress and their coordinating-ness!Adam’s boys. Again, couldn’t get up front for a shot so I snuck around the other side and got my own angle. And here too. But then everyone found my side and I had to get out of dodge. But I got the shot first! Thanks Adam for being patient for more pictures! Love you!!

    elizabeth’s prom

I got to play paparazzi for an afternoon/evening and follow my ‘niece’ Elizabeth around to a bunch of pre-prom parties. I was also introduced to a whole new world of prom rules that include posting your dress on FB to ensure that no one buys the same one as you, buses instead of limos, and graduation the day after prom so that the school can use graduation to ensure no one gets out of control at prom. But I was happy to see that at least the corsages and boutineers are still around. And that the mom’s had to pin the boutineers on the boys jackets. Some things don’t change. But yes, I am really, really, REALLY old. How did that happen?!

But Elizabeth is gorgeous. I mean, really really gorgeous.

Her date was a sweetheart and I liked him cause he let me take lots of pictures without complaining. At least not to my face.I have this exact pose in a picture of Bitsy when she was around a year old. I looked all over my house but I can’t find it. I’m sure it’ll turn up as soon as this blog post is up!The first party. How are they all so pretty and skinny?! Is it bad I wish I was 17 again?A little shoe shot. Didn’t want to miss the backs of the dresses.Jake Ryan, anyone? (on the right)Talking to her godfather John on my phone while eating salami.  Even though the bus got lost coming from Maryland (yeah, I don’t get it either) and the parents had to drive the kids to Valley Stream to meet the bus almost 2 hrs late, and then the same bus broke down 10 miles from the prom and they had to send town cars to pick up the kids….they all had a great time from what I heard. Good luck next year in college, everyone!! Bitsy, what am I going to do without you?!?
