    amelia’s graduation

    I’ve been lucky enough to have photographed a few special occasions for this awesome, sweet family, and now we get to celebrate Amelia’s graduation! Wishing her the best at Providence next year- can’t wait to see what she does in her new adventures! (I know it’ll be great things!)

    isabel & friends nyu nursing grads

    It’s totally graduation season around here, which between college and then high school, is a pretty long season- totally good with me!! Wishing Isabel and her nursing school friends many congratulations today on their graduation day! They were all lovely, smart and sweet and I think they will make wonderful nurses! Washington Square park was a whole lot of ‘ew’, but does make for a pretty backdrop.

    caitlin & the st. john’s grads

    The fact that Caitlin is graduating college now and headed to St. John’s Law School in the fall is really just blowing my mind. I’ve known her since she was little and now we’re here. Her mom, my good friend Suzanne, was not only an excellent assistant for the session, but like the funnest friend. We lived down the block from each other as kids but never met until we were adults. Which we decided is both very unfortunate to miss out on that many years of friendship, but probably safer for everyone because the amount of trouble we would have gotten into is very, very large. Also, between the two of us there may be more snark than the universe can manage. Congratulations to Caitlin and all her friends on graduation (this weekend)! They were super fun subjects, brave climbing up on the wall and getting IN the fountain!

    hannah & the grads {fordham law school edition}

    It seems like yesterday that I did the Hannah & the grads- college edition but that was 4 years ago! So beautiful and smart Hannah is back here on the bsquared pages with her law school besties who are all graduating next week from Fordham Law. Pretty impressive, right?! We had a blast at Lincoln Center (their school is right next door) with the best natural reflectors and awesome graduates. Wishing them all so much luck and success in their law futures!

    senior sessions- now booking!

    By senior sessions, I do not mean people of older age- I mean high school and college seniors! We all know how blergh most of the yearbook photos are- totally cookie cutter, no personality at all, boring backdrops (unless of course you opted for the 80’s laser background- is that even a thing anymore? it totally should be!). I mean is that really the way you want to remember your senior year? Selfies and phone shots are so great and totally have their place, but wouldn’t it be so much better to have professional photos at locations that mean something to you, in outfits you choose, looking your best with someone who can pose you in a way to highlight your best attributes and bring out your personality? Yes! And that someone is me! I wish senior sessions were more of a “thing” here in the New York area (they are HUGE in the south and west) but I am on a mission to make it more of a thing here because I LOVE doing them!

    Family members? Yes, bring them along. Friends? Absofreakinlutely! A friend group is always super fun! Pets? Please bring your furry besties! Props? (a favorite car, your sport jersey or equipment, your instrument, your art, a book that moved you, your favorite blankie or stuffed animal, your college hoodie for your current or soon to be home for the next 4, etc etc etc)- yes, yes and YES!

    For those of you who are rising college freshmen and are planning on rushing, your sorority or frat may require a headshot. Don’t you want to give them something that says “YOU”? Or if you’re graduating college and moving on to the business world, you’ll need a great photo for LinkedIn or for your resume. No selfies or ducklips.

    Lastly, parents- your baby is leaving the nest. Don’t make your “big memory” picture of them the yearbook photo. Make it a photo that will make you smile every time you look at while they’re away- because you know that’s your kid and their full on personality in that picture.

    Because I have my own senior this year, dates are a bit more limited due to prom, graduation, orientation, and college starting mid August. So don’t delay and book your senior session now!!
