rvc royals- first game of the season

And crap, it was ffffffreezing at the game. I still have no idea how any of them were able to play it was so cold out.

All the boys have changed so much since the fall/winter. They’re all taller, broader and just different shapes than they used to be. Seeing them on the field, it was so hard to tell who was who, when last year it was so easy. Plus a few of them changed #s so that made it all the harder. Jack pitching…And a pretty sunset even though it was like 3 degrees out.Johnny pitching…Timmy freezing.A run down at 3rd base. Zach in action. A new Royal- Nick (hit a double. I missed a ton of shots of them all hitting- it was so cold and I couldn’t move the camera and focus fast enough. Boo.)Trying to keep his hands warm. Patrick had a great hit (yeah, missed that one too) and made it to first.Heading home. Well, I almost got the shot…Freezing parents & siblings. The whole team. From the left standing: Jack C, Glenn, Johnny, Mike, Zach, Patrick, Marc (another new Royal player), Michael. Front row kneeling: Jack, Julia, Anthony & Nick. Barely visible in the background Sean, Coach Rob, Coach Kevin, Coach John and Coach John.Looking forward to a great season, but it better be warmer for the next game I’m at.

    in my thoughts, boston.

Can’t really find the words I want to write. But can’t stop thinking about the disgusting, cowardly, horrible bombings in Boston yesterday. Especially of that 8 year old boy who was killed. Cause I have an 8 year boy with a similar gap-toothed smile, who is also a big time little-leaguer, who is also making his communion soon. Can’t fathom. So sad and so stupid and just a total waste. I have that same pit in my stomach I had during 9/11 and for weeks (months?) afterward. Why does this have to happen? Does it solve any problems for those doing these things? You can’t go to school, or to work, or to a sporting event, or on a plane. How do you live in this world? I don’t know.

    Thinking of you, Boston.

    toofless

And now the other big front tooth on the top is hanging by a thread- otherwise known as the snaggletooth. So by the time his communion rolls around in another 3 weeks, he’ll be completely toothless (or toofless).

    jack & patrick

A few favorite shots I made them take for me recently. Getting them to take pictures for me lately is like pulling teeth, but as long as I don’t ask too often I think we’re ok. Sorta.

The funny thing is that they’re wearing the opposite colors that are normally “theirs”.

    Jack:

    Patrick:

A lot going on for them lately (mostly baseball related) and they are so excited about starting Regis in the fall (and I’m still so proud!!). Going to be a very interesting year!

it’s that time of the year

Baseball season. When everything is baseball, all the time. The big boys are playing for the Royals again (and John is coaching again) and have their first game tonight, they are also trying out for the middle school baseball team (and made it thru the first round of cuts. Final cuts are next week) and if that’s not enough, they are also umping Little League games and then helping out John with coaching Timmy’s team. Oh, and John’s coaching Timmy’s Mort Gellar League team too. And of course there are season tickets to the Mets and Yankees. So it’s back to baseball all the time. And laundry. Oh my god- the laundry.

I missed taking pictures on opening day for the Mets so I took a few super quick ones last night on their way to the Mets game. I was super rushed for the last 2 so the lighting is bad, composition is bad, but at least I got them before they left.

I have some “toothless” pictures to post from the moment right after he lost his tooth which I probably should have posted before these, but that’s not happening cause I haven’t edited those yet…And as much as I loathe baseball, I’m happy for them that it’s their favorite time of year. And I like watching my boys play. So now if I could just do something about the laundry…
