    annual cousins christmas pictures

Hello all! I wrapped up my very last session for 2012 yesterday- a christening for a beautiful baby girl. Came home, downloaded the pictures to the computer, answered a few emails, tidied up the office, and with that? I’m on vacation!! Ok, well I’m never REALLY on vacation but this is as close as I get!

Every year we do a Christmas picture of all the cousins and a shot with grandma & grandpa too for their card. We usually do it at the beach club on Fathers Day when we’re all there together, but we weren’t all together there this year because baby Joe was so little and it was just too much to bring those three out for brunch. We had the pictures scheduled for the day after Thanksgiving, but Sandy hit and we were the Beyrer Refugee Center to many, including all the cousins/aunts/uncles/grandparents since we were the only ones with power. And heat. We even had some overnight guests. So even though everyone was sorta unshowered, not dressed up (my kids didn’t even have shoes on!), and just generally casual we figured it was the perfect time to do the pictures anyway since we were all together and everyone was having fun hanging out together. It’s definitely a memory!

So here are all the cousins- all 9 of them. And for those of you who are new to the blog-yes, they are all boys. Not one single girl. From top row left: Timmy, Jack, James, Brendan, Quinn (not happy about the pictures), Patrick, Baby Joe, Aidan and Sean is in the front.

Jack, Patrick & Timmy hanging with Brendan enjoying 21st century electronics and power. Aunt Gail with Quinn, James & Aidan. Uncle Joe with baby Joe.Aunt Gail and baby Joe. Baby Joe. And the whole group with Grandma & Grandpa. Quinny was a little happier on Grandpa’s lap.

Family is a great thing! Even (or especially) during a hurricane and thereafter.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve! See you here on the blog tomorrow! (you’ll definitely want to pop in tomorrow if you can).

    5 for friday {sandy sessions announcement}

    1. if you’re reading this, I guess that means that the world didn’t come to an end. yet. so i guess that’s good. but after how things have been going in the world the last few months, maybe it’s also not so good. while it has been a really good year for me personally, i almost feel bad about that since everything else seems so crappy. survivors guilt, i guess.

    2. there’s still some time to enter the last of the “i like you, too x1000” giveaway for a free bsquared mini session. i’ll be choosing a winner using random.org over Christmas break. Head on over to the blog post here, and just leave a comment there. Easy peasy. I’ll notify the winner via email (so don’t forget to include that!)

    3. the saying about the shoemakers kids is ringing quite true this year for me. I have NO christmas card to send out this year for the first time ever (wow, maybe it really is the end of the world!) It’s my goal over break to take a good picture of the boys on the beach and get that out for a New Years card. So be on the lookout for that after 1/8 or so. I haven’t photographed my own boys with anything other than my iPhone in a while. Sad, but true.

    4. Vacation cannot come soon enough. But it’s never really fully vacation- working on next year’s bsquared pricing and packages and products from the beach & pool. (ok, so its not entirely bad!) For those of you interested in booking a session for 2013, the calendar will officially be open in mid January for booking thru the end of May 2013. If you’ve already contacted me about an event in 2013, you’re already penciled in on the calendar and I will get your welcome packet and all info out to you by mid January. Looking forward to seeing all of your smiling faces.

    5. I went to my annual photografriends holiday party on Wednesday night and had a ball. It’s such a great group of people and it makes it even more special that I was voted as the year’s best family photographer by my peers. And even better? I’m sharing the “title” with my photografriend Shira of Shira Z Photography. Love her! Last year I won for dropping the most F bombs. It’s good to be recognized for my true talents.

    6. I know it’s 5 for Friday, but it’s my blog and I’ll make it 6 since I have one more very important announcement to make. In January- March 2013 in addition to the “i like you too” free mini session, I’ll also be offering 2 spots for “Sandy Sessions”; free mini sessions to honor the victims of both Hurricane Sandy and the 26 angels from Sandy Hook, CT. This one is going to be a little different though. In order to win a Sandy Session, you must be nominated by a friend or family member.

If you know of someone who is deserving of a free bsquared mini session because of losses suffered in the Sandy storm (loss of a home, belongings, or even family photos) please email me a short letter about the family you’re nominating and why you think they should receive a free session.

If you know of someone who is deserving of a free bsquared mini session because of all of the wonderful things they do for others or because they would otherwise be unable to afford/schedule a bsquared session for pictures of their children/family  (to honor the 6 teachers and 20 children taken from their families and friends in such a horrible manner) please email me a short letter about the family/individual  you’re nominating and why you think they should receive a free session.

I will choose 2 winners for mini sessions. I can’t wait to read your submissions and photograph some amazing families! Please email me at bethbeyrer at yahoo dot com and put Sandy Sessions in the subject. All emails will be confidential.

    the halloween that wasn’t

With everything that happened with Sandy, Halloween was really a huge bust this year. Since school was cancelled  so was the annual Halloween parade. And since life was pretty much cancelled too, trick or treating wasn’t technically allowed. Being that we really never lost power other than 2.5 hours during the storm, we had a house full of guests (some staying over, some staying long enough to eat or charge up their stuff) including Joe & Gail and their boys. Timmy was dying to get out to trick or treat a little, so we took James along (sans costume but with his firetruck sweatshirt and real fireman’s hat from Uncle John, it worked out just fine) for a once around the block trick or treating to maintain some semblance of Halloween. It was a little scary out there with lots of wires down all over, trees toppled over into the streets so we were really super careful and made sure to go out before it got dark.

Timmy decided on his own that he wanted to be a Canadian Mountie this year. Do you have any idea how impossible it is to find a kids Canadian Mountie costume?? They don’t make them. So we found the hat, and I found a kids Queens Guard uniform, and then found a site for the leather baldric (didn’t even know what that was called before I started looking for that) in kids sizes. So a lot of work (research, not sewing. Do you know me at all?!) went into this costume for a year without a real Halloween. At least I got some pictures.

    jack & patrick’s confirmation

Just a few shots from the day. We went to dinner afterwards with the whole family at Hempstead. It was a really nice day! (no pictures from inside the church- the rule was no photography and I’m a rule follower).

Jack’s sponsor was his Grandpa Jack, Patrick’s was his grandma Inez. Our friend Father Bill. (who I went to graduate school with and who baptized all three boys)The fabulous Sullivan family! The boys with their buddy Robert and Father Bill. My three boys. Love them!

the rvc royals at cooperstown dreams park- the end

Ok, so being this was like almost 2 months ago, it’s time to finish posting the last of the pictures. This was their first playoff game of two. I forgot to mention on the last blog post that Anthony STOLE HOME! And of course I have NO pictures of that amazing event because we were playing that team from New Hampshire that was so horrendously behaved and the worst sports ever and I was in a terrible mood so I put the camera away. And then he stole home. It was freaking awesome!! (the NH Cats were the team that was winning 20-4 and still talking sh*t in the field and dugout, and put in a new pitcher- who was in no way 12 years old, not even in an alternate universe and was throwing at like 90 mph- when they were already up 20-4. Asshats.) So onto a better game against a nice team!

    Johnny C.
Jamie.Getting some tips from Coach John H. The whole game was back and forth for the full two hours. It was so nerve wracking!!Bobby and his home run! I think he was a little happy!!

    Jack.
    Kevin.Jamie and HIS home run!He was pretty happy too!Anthony & Jack.Jack.Patrick.
Kevin.Nail biting game. Seriously! And the final score with the first Royals win for the week!I was so exhausted after the first game roller coaster that I kept the camera in the bag for the second game. The boys didn’t even have time to eat between the first and second playoff game, had to change their shirts and socks and get right back to playing. It was a total endurance marathon. They lost the second game to a great California team- and the one shot I took is below. And that was that. So we headed up to the main signs to take some team photos. From left: James, Glenn, Johnny C, Anthony, Kevin, Bobby, Jamie, Johnny H, Mike, Zach, Patrick, Jack C, Jack B, and Michael.Yay! Baseball is over!!The Kliers. And a little wrestling (with Timmy too of course). Thursday night was the closing ceremonies. The dog at the place I stayed (Gateway Inn and Suites). Timmy getting in his last licks on pin trading. The team banner displayed by Thomas and Timmy. The ring ceremony. (Which I honestly could’ve skipped. It wasn’t much of anything.) Oh, and John does not run.Jamie and Timmy.
I left Cooperstown immediately after this- and made it home in a record 3hours, 31 minutes door to door. Ya think I was ready to get the hell out of Cooperstown? Honestly, it was a great trip for the boys and I’m so glad they did it (and I’m glad I got to see them all play). I had a fantastic time with all the parents- they were all a super fun bunch to spend a week with!
