the sum family
This shoot was practically a year in the making, but it was sooooo worth it (at least I think so, I hope you do too J). J called me about a year ago for a shoot when her little girl was born. They lived in NYC at the time, and at the time I wasn’t travelling so we didn’t do it. Fast forward to a year later when I am travelling like crazy (New Jersey, Long Island City, Brooklyn, NYC, Chappaqua…) and they have moved out of NYC to a new house and we finally set it up. Then we had to reschedule our first date due to rain. I’m not sure either one of us thought it would ever happen. But it sure did!
Miss D was so cute and although we thought we weren’t getting many smiles out of her, we did afterall. And yes, that is all in their ridiculously huge and beautiful backyard. Not a park. Well, I guess it is kinda a park in their own yard! And loved the very very friendly dog. He’s pretty photogenic too.
Love the “babydoll on a shelf”.
And the tu-tu…no words for this one! I have been waiting FOREVER for a tutu shoot and when I saw this in the spare room, I grabbed it with glee and begged to use it. I don’t think it took much convincing.
J, Hope you find something for your new canvas (or two or three…)

the hyl family
That whole 6 degrees thing comes into play yet again. Never met this great family before Saturday morning’s shoot, but later that night the mom saw John and the boys at our friends son’s graduation party in a totally different town (I wasn’t there- I was in NYC shooting The Turn at Webster Hall- those pictures up next). She recognized John and the boys from the blog and introduced herself. Small world. Getting smaller by the minute!
This family was so sweet and fun to photograph. Of course, I loved the whole three boys thing (and I even got hugs and kisses at the end!!!) and they were all so good. We had some fun with the infamous tickle finger and just exploring the park. It was dreadfully hot and so ridiculously HUMID at 9:30 in the morning, but everyone toughed it out so well. And do you think Dad could look anymore like Ray Liotta?! (except with good skin!) The littlest boy just turned one, so the shoot was concentrated a little more on him. Mom is a photographer herself and like me, is very very rarely in any of her pictures. I hope I did your family justice, L!

We really really lucked out with the weather on this one. It was raining a few miles away while we were shooting but somehow we avoided it and had great weather for the whole shoot (a lot of humidity, but no rain). We kept going back and forth on cancelling, but it couldn’t have worked out better.
This is Jack’s teacher from part of the year back in 2nd grade (she was his assistant teacher, and moved into the head teacher position while his teacher was out on maternity leave) and we just love her. She even took my scrapbook class this year where we completed her son’s first year album. She’s great and so nice, as was the rest of the whole family. Another completely photogenic group- and those kids? Just yum!
Love this sibling series. I had visions of what it must have been like growing up in that house. Fun and torture!
Poor guy did a good face plant right into the sand. He was not happy.

the san family
This was a super fun group to shoot last weekend. Great kids (being photogenic dosen’t hurt either) and great adults too. Headed down to Pt. Lookout at sunset(ish) to play in the sand and take some pictures. We almost rescheduled as one dad/husband couldn’t be there, but we didn’t have another doable date. So here is the san family…enjoy!

the cos family
My second shoot for this "barbie & ken" family. The first time we met was back in October or November when their little girl was even littler. She is just the most petite and cute little tiny thing. She was a real trooper considering the poor girl didn’t really like the sand (well, she didn’t like the sand ON her). So there was a lot of brushing off and cleaning up ongoing. We had a little game where she would stick her finger in the sand, say "uh oh" and have me wipe it off. And she said "tank u" in the sweetest little voice every time.
