the Dun family
Had a photoshoot yesterday for a lovely family. They chose a beach shoot and we really lucked out on the weather (again)! It was definately a bit windy and cool, but it was not bad at all. The sand was so smooth and had almost no footprints in it (I guess beach season really is over now). The girls were so cute and very busy. The hill climbing had the older girl quite enthralled and it was pretty much all she wanted to do. It was nice that they took a little pity on me and let me hobble around the beach after them without any running. Thank goodness the littlest one wasn’t walking yet, and the older girl was not too fast (yet). I had a great time, and got some good pictures too. I just love the interaction between the sisters in the black and white one below. Oh, and the sunset that day. Amazing. I stayed a little late just to snap some for myself.

The “Cul” family
A beach photoshoot today, and I have to say that as much as I am wanting "real" fall weather, I’m so reluctant to let go of the beautiful, continuing summer weather. It’s the beginning of October and I was more than comfortable being barefoot on the beach. Crazy! And it dosen’t hurt with all of the beach shoots I am doing.
Anyway, a last minute shoot today for a friend of mine and her wonderful, photogenic family both immediate and extended. My boys go to school with their youngest daughter and are good friends with her. The middle daughter, C, and some of her friends are Timmy’s fan club and are so good to him. She chased me down the street one day when Timmy was crying in the stroller on the way to school just to give him a little toy car so he would cheer up. And it worked. Really, all the kids are just the sweetest. So well mannered, fun, and just NICE. The littlest boy in the pictures is my friends nephew- around the same age as Timmy. His mom wasn’t in the picture mood today so it was just him and his dad. I am hoping mom lets me get some of her next time.
Such an easy shoot today- a total pleasure. Big kids are so super easy. No chasing. They just go where you tell them and stay there. The only challenge is getting those natural smiles. I think I caught a few. All the pictures are in an album on the left. Click any image (below or in album) to see bigger. Hope you like them, J and M too!

Fog like soup
So I was supposed to have a photoshoot yesterday (Wednesday) for a family at the beach. It was decent outside here as it was time to leave (partly cloudy, partly sunny) but the closer I got to the beach, the foggier it got. It was soooo fogged up that I couldn’t see the water beneath the bridge on the parkway. When I got down to the parking lot at the beach where we were meeting, it was obvious that there was no way the shoot was happening- especially since we couldn’t see the sand (nevermind the water) from the lot. And it was misting, so I really didn’t want to take the camera out of the bag. So the mom and I decided to bag it and try again today.
Well, today was not looking promising either. The weather up here was good again (very humid and hot though for October- it was in the 80’s!) but not only did it take upwards of 45 minutes for the trip that usually takes 15-20 minutes due to horrendous traffic, the fog was rolling in like crazy on the highway by the water. So much so that my boys were a little freaked out that they couldn’t see the other side of the road. It was really that bad. I almost turned around after the call from the mom who saw the same fog I did, but we decided to see how it was by the time I got all the way down. And thank goodness, it was foggy, but not terribly. So we finally got the shoot done. With good results too.
Before pictures, I must give a special thank you to our cousins Kevin and Alex who so graciously watched the boys while I did my shoot. They are so fun (the boys couldn’t stop raving about them the whole way home and kept asking when we are seeing them again) and they had the best time playing with the cousins and the dogs. The BEST time. So, thank you so much Kevin and Alex!! I owe you a room painted or something. Really. The boys love you! Hope sushi was good and that you got a good night’s sleep tonight. I know they wore you out.
So back to the photoshoot. Remember how I mentioned it was so warm out? Well, when we headed down to the water portion of the shoot, after getting their feet in, the boys somehow managed to turn it into a full on swim in the ocean, fully clothed! I mean, really, really swimming. Their mom was so cool about the whole thing (thanks, M) and really let them go at it. She was also quite fully prepared with towels and a change of clothes. I think they had a great time in the ocean. Really, who expected to swim in October!!?? Besides the swimming shots, managed to get a few other cute ones too. Hope you like them, M.

and shoot two…
was at the beach with the "W" family. A great bunch with (again) great looking people. Of course, being that there were 3 small kids everyone was running in different directions at different times, but I still managed to get a few of them together. The water is getting a little cold now (and the little girl was not happy about the ocean at all) so the ocean pictures are at a minimum. When we arrived at the beach, there was another photographer with a family in MY SPOT. So we had to move over a little, but eventually wandered back to the usual spot too. A nice mix of colors of light as the sun went down too and the sun is definitely setting earlier. I really love the b/w’s with the sea grass in these too. I think they are my favorites. Maybe- too hard to choose.

Two shoots, one day. Shoot one…
Had a photoshoot this morning for the "Bas" family. We were originally going to do it at their house but I scouted a new location with Timmy yesterday late afternoon, and decided to pick this new location. It’s a great (but little) nature preserve near us and has been around forever but I am only "discovering" it now. And I love it- great everything there.
The "Bas" family is super nice and very easy going. Again, another gorgeous bunch with all that blonde, blonde hair. Had a great time at their session (hope they did too). Their son goes to school with my boys and is a typical 8 year old boy with lots of "faces". But I did manage to get a few good handsome non-faces pictures of him somehow. And the baby of the family is apparently a biter, so there were a few pictures where no one could sit next to her safely! Here a few of my favorites from this morning.

Second shoot for today was at the beach. Pictures soon….
