    the turn’s new/latest gigs & digs

Caught up with the band again recently. And although the lighting was awful(but the music was great), I managed a few good ones anyway.

We’ve been working hard on some new cards for upcoming shows and here’s what we’ve come up with to date. I’m really digging the whole graphic design thing! The shows should be awesome and everyone should go.

And a poster that Brian requested for Pat’s upcoming birthday present that I put together. Both Pat and Brian (with his brother Eric) have moved into new apartments within the last few hours and weeks. Pat in NYC a few weeks ago, and Brian & Eric in LIC yesterday. We all thought the 36×24″ poster (fully framed and everything) would make a really good addition to some blank walls! Congrats on your new digs, guys! Can’t wait for the next full on photoshoot with some city skyline!

the turn @ parkside lounge nyc

On a Friday night my favorite band had a show at the Parkside Lounge in waaaaaay downtown NYC. I was more than happy to go along and take some pictures, dance a little, and try out my new lenses.

The Turn put on a fabulous, rockin show and everyone really loved it. There was lots of cheering and encore requests and two new songs that were awesome. Can’t wait to hear those again so I can start singing along next time.

If you’d like to check out some of their music, please visit them here:  http://www.myspace.com/rocktheturn  I would definitely suggest going, you won’t regret it.

Some of my favorites from the evening (it was only an hour show, but I took a zillion pictures).

Apparently, everyone in the band except Brian got the “wear black t-shirts with dark jeans” memo…

Finally got some decent shots of Chris doin his thing on the drums. He’s always squished in the back with bad lighting but this time the lighting was a little better.

And no Turn shoot would be complete without my favorite picture of Brian during the screaming part of Sex on Fire. I think I’m gonna see how many of these shots I can get over time- I have an excellent start already!

    Maybe my favorite angle…

You guys rocked it– hard!! Great show and I’m continually so proud of you! You just keep getting better and better!! Can’t wait for the next show….

Brian and Pat rocked it hard the whole night, played their hearts out and kept everyone more than entertained. With help from Chris on drums and Brian on bass, they were unstoppable.

They sounded great (and looked great too). And I think when the time comes that they are playing bigger venues with bigger crowds, they will be more than ready. They were so at ease up there- so professional!

I like to think that they are singing to me (not to my camera for a good picture, but actually to ME). So, I’m just going to go with that. The Turn sings to me. Cause they love me. I like my delusional world- don’t mess with it.

Some of the other biggest Turn fans/friends. And a big thank you to Heather who took one of my cameras, stood up on the bar and shot a few from a different angle (listen, I’m turning 40 this year. My days of standing on a bar have long since passed.)

“General” George Fullan- the Turn’s producer. He’s awesome!

Of course, no singing shoot of The Turn would be complete without my shot of Brian screaming during Sex on Fire (and as a side note, that is Timmy’s favorite song. Vastly innapropriate but too funny. He does have good taste in music for a 4 year old. And Christiana is his favorite Turn song.) It’s very difficult dancing while taking pictures. Just glad they came out!

Being the “Turn Mommy”, I just want to say again how really proud I am of them. Great people, great musicians. Can’t wait for the next show!!

B and Pat, this is for you….

Don’t they LOOK like total rock stars??!!

The show was awesome and everyone had a blast! The band sounded incredible and had lots of (screaming) fans.  Lots more recap on the show soon.

I took over 900 pictures so there’s a lot to go thru and edit. Be patient, the rest are on their way as soon as I can.

best laid plans and all that…

So yesterday I was going to take the boys to the Museum of Natural History. But after a late start (damn navigation system), ridiculous traffic into the city (shoulda just taken the train), and a complete lack of available parking, we ditched the Museum and just headed into Central Park for a photoshoot. Which ended up being so fun. The boys even liked it. More on that in a few days, though. I still have to edit the pictures. Here’s two in the meantime.

In other news, I’m happy to welcome our new nephew/cousin James William. Born yesterday at 2:05pm at 7lbs. So exciting!!! Pictures as soon as I possibly can. Oh, and the kid is already a typical Beyrer– taking his own sweet time (poor Gail was in labor for about 24hrs and ended up with a Csection anyway).  So that is 7 grandchildren/cousins. And that is 7 BOYS. Craziness. And don’t ask me if I’m trying for a girl. Cause I’m not and the only way I’d be getting one is if one is left miraculously on the doorstep.

So excited to go see my ‘other boys’ The Turn tonight in their big show at Madison Hall.  If you are interested in coming, please shoot me an email. I can get you $10 tickets until 6pm tonight, after that it’s $15 at the door.  Doors open at 9pm, show starts around 9:30pm until about 11pm and then party until 1am. Brian and Pat are both so pumped about putting on a great show for everyone. And I know they are going to totally rock it. Hope to see you there. It should be a really fun night out.
