the pow baby- Christmas mini session

I almost feel like I am this baby’s personal paparazzi! Between the maternity session, the newborn shoot, making the birth announcement, now the Christmas mini-shoot…and then I will making the Christmas card, and also shooting her Christening later this month! I’m sure she will grow to loathe me and my camera…kinda like my own kids!

She was a total doll again today. She has really filled out since the last time I saw her when she was just 2 weeks old. But she still has those same alert, I know exactly what you are up to missy, eyes. I even managed to capture some sweet baby smiles. My only complaint…the kid dosen’t sleep! She would LOOK like she was sleeping, but it was just a lie. Everytime we moved her from the position she fell asleep in, she woke right up. And the doggie is super good too. He spent a bit of the shoot sitting right in my lap! Not easy shooting with a dog in your lap, but he was too cute to make move. Oh, and the baby HATED the hats. She got so pissed off about them, so no hat smiley pictures. Too funny. As much as she hated the hat, that’s how much the dog wanted to/tried to eat it.

So looking forward to making this card, but it’s going to be tough. Too many good shots to choose from!Img_2591sImg_2682s  Img_2622s Img_2654s Img_2539s Img_2573s Img_2579pr

    NYC today

Img_2493sl Had a great time in the city today! Timmy and I went in with my friend Jen and her two boys. The main idea was for me to go to B & H Photo to check out a new lens. I previously bought the 24-70mmL thru B&H but via internet and didn’t love it, so it went back. They are so great about letting you play with their stuff so I tried out the 24mmL, the 24mm, the 20mm and the 35mmL. I bought the 24mmL which was really the first lens that I thought I wanted when I decided to upgrade to an L lens (they are professional grade). Let me tell you that I LOVE it. I was snapping away in NYC, but we were in a bit of a rush to make an early train back, so I didn’t really stop to play as much as would have liked. Got a few shots on the run. B&H has quite the operation there. I have heard that the place was awesome, but it was definitely something I am so glad I saw firsthand. Unbelieveable selection- they have EVERYTHING there. It’s owned and run by Hasidic Jews (which I didn’t know until recently) and they were really sooooooo nice and helpful. The man who helped me was so fantastic and knowledgeable. So I walked out with a big girl new L lens, two filters (one for the 50mm lens I already have) and a "sock" for the camera. When you buy something they send it downstairs on a conveyer belt (kinda like the one they use at the drycleaners) in a little container. Then you pay and get your stuff. Super organized. So cool. I must stay FAR away from that place. Otherwise my credit card will be begging for mercy.

Timmy was PERFECT all day today. He was super on the train, great at B&H (all the guys were talking to him, drawing him pictures, and had nothing but nice things to say about him) especially since I had to go to the 2nd floor and the elevator was out. So I left the stroller downstairs and he walked upstairs with me. Since he was so good and patient at B&H, we took a walk up to the giant ToysRUs store in Times Square. Did some shopping and some playing, and some hiding behind Mommy when the big ginormous dinosaur roared, and some buying. Timmy got a set of superheros which is his latest obsession. We took a ride on the big Ferris wheel. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the Toy Story car, or the Scooby Doo car (we got the M&M’s one), but Timmy really liked the ride. Meanwhile…Jen and her boys met up with one of her highschool friends and grabbed lunch while Timmy and I headed across the street to the MTV/Nickelodeon/Viacom building to see my friend Rich who is a VP of Promos at Nick. We only visited for a few minutes and then had to go catch the train. Img_2498sl Img_2499sl Img_2511sl Img_2509sl

I have a shoot tommorrow where I am planning on playing more with my new lens. Did I mention that I LOVE it?

Tuesday’s shoot: the owe family part two

We are doing this one in pieces. Some at Tanglewood the other day, and the rest today at their house. They recently TOTALLY remodeled the house and it is just phenomenal. She has exquisite taste. And we have very similar taste so I’m ready to move in. (So does that mean I have exquisite taste, too?).

Anyway, her daughter was so much happier (well, for the most part- there was one meltdown but she did get back into the groove) in doing this today. It was a lot warmer out, we were home, and she knows me more so I think she was more comfortable overall. So I think we actually had some fun. I saw alot of sassiness in that little girl that I didn’t know exisisted before. I mean sassiness in the best way, spunky and fun! She is always so quiet and shy, but now I know the other side!

I can’t wait to see what pictures they pick for the card. I have great visions for this one!Img_2334sl Img_2367sl Img_2372cbwImg_2396cbw Img_2407sl  Img_2382sl_2 Img_2392sl Img_2320sl

    Sunday’s shoots: the led family

This was the last one for the weekend. A really lovely, welcoming family. They were even game enough to move the big chair out onto the back lawn for some shots. When I walked in the mom warned me that the older of her two girls was "difficult". She was a great subject for a few minutes and then was just completely DONE. Done with me. Done with my camera. Done with the whole deal.  I would be able to get her back in the groove for a second or two at a time, but as soon as I picked up the camera, she was hysterical again. I know her mom was dissapointed because her older girl was in no way whatsoever going to give us a shot of her and her baby sister together. No way. I did manage to sneak one or two in between tears and cookies. But not the sitting pretty shot. Can’t get them all.

I did manage some great candids. Both girls were sooooo photogenic with those amazing blue eyes. Maybe if I see her again, I can convince her that my camera really isn’t so bad. Img_2075slcp Img_2093sl Img_2104sl Img_2110sl Img_2121sl Img_2268sl Img_2101cbw Img_2157sl

Sunday’s shoots: the mar family [mini-session]

This session was just too easy. The only challenge was the dog! I’m not used to big kids- especially ones that just sit perfectly still until you say they can move! Very nice family and a fabulous house. The oldest is heading off to college next year so lots of upcoming changes at that home. Ends up that they are friends of friends, and we didn’t even know it.
