The good or the bad first?
So which do you want? The good news or the bad news first? Just life, ya know?
- Timmy has graduated to a "big boy bed" in his new "big boy room". Spent the day on Sunday revamping the whole room. Took down the animal pictures, animal valance, animal mirror, the changing table and the crib. Let me tell you, it was REALLY hard. I was seriously on the verge of tears the whole time. No more babies in this house. No more crib. While it’s so exciting that Timmy is growing up, I’m missing my baby. And even though he’s still a baby in so many ways, he’s a big boy too. The lack of crib just sealed the deal.
I am proud and happy to report that the transition from crib to bed was a very, very smooth one. He is LOVING his bed and is sleeping great in it. He seems to take a really long time to fall asleep in it, but he’s sleeping pretty late in the morning (between 7-8:30), and most importantly, he’s not getting out. For naps (we are still hanging on to the nap for now, thank god) I’m still rocking him until he falls asleep cause it just takes too long otherwise. And I decided to let him keep his papi’s for now. I didn’t want him to associate the bed with me taking them away, thus equaling no sleep. We need sleep. So the papi fairy is on vacation for now, until we are more ready. I am also selfish and don’t want to give up the naps yet. I still need that time.
Timmy decided on a Superman theme for his room. Picked out the bedding himself from the Pottery Barn Kids catalogue and store. We had the Superman and Batman pictures from the big boys old room. Bought the lunchboxes on the bookshelf from Party City when we were going to get his party supplies. The navy blue and red bins with the chalkboard fronts are from Target. The furniture is all from his old room except the nightstand and mirror are new from Gothic Cabinet Craft. The big blue smooshy chair is from my room when I was little. I can’t believe it’s held up as well as it has over the last 30 or so years! It even folds out into a bed so he can have some sleepovers eventually. He just looks so tiny in that big bed, but so, so cute.
- John’s back (herniated disc) is just a mess. The shots (epidural steroid injections that are shot right into the disc to try to reduce swelling) aren’t doing anything and he’s in a lot of pain. And while he has the Percoset, he can’t really take it cause he needs to not be high at work! So he saw the surgeon (and got a second opinion) yesterday and they are going ahead with surgery on next Tuesday 2/26. How’s that for speedy? He is supposed to be in the hospital only overnight and then home for a week if all goes as it’s supposed to. Then one easy week at work and by the third week, he’s supposed to be all back to normal work activity. I hope it goes that well. My only solace is that this surgery is a lot less intense than the other neck disc surgery he got a few years back. And he came thru that one okay (well, except for the fact that he couldn’t breathe while coming out of anesthesia- that was a little scary) in the end. That one was a lot more dangerous and risky with the placement in the neck. And the recovery was LOOOOOONG. So if you are so inclined, please send some good thoughts our way for a good outcome to the surgery and a quick recovery.
- Today’s was Timmy’s 3rd birthday party at the Rec Center. After doing the math (and those of you who know me, know what a feat that is for me), I figured out that out of the 11 birthdays we’ve had in the house for the boys all combined, that 8 of them have now been at the Rec Center. I guess we really like it there, huh? The only ones we didn’t have there were each of the 1st birthdays (those were at home) and the big boys birthday last year which was at Shea Stadium. Pictures and a whole birthday party post to follow soon.
- John is getting a new car tommorrow. A Mercedes SUV. Will post pictures on that as soon as I can but the weather tommorrow is supposed to be pretty bad, so it might have to wait til the weekend. We’re both pretty excited about it! (yes, John is actually excited about something. I know, hard to believe). This is pretty much what it looks like, same color too.
Timmy is getting evaluated for speech next week. His teacher and pediatrician both thought I should get him tested for articulation. His vocabulary is fantastic and his sentences are long and great. It’s just that apparently some people find it difficult to understand him sometimes. So I’m surprised on how fast the process has been going along. I just put the paperwork in early this week and I already have evaluation appointments next week. When the big boys were evaluated for their whole low muscle tone thing 4+ years ago, I think it took so much longer. We are going back to the same place where Jack & Patrick went for their PT and OT. I’ll let you know what happens. I personally don’t think that he’s going to qualify, but we’ll see. It’s free and it dosen’t hurt to see.

The rest of the happy day- the mas wedding
Finally finished editing. I guess it takes a little longer when there are over 800 pictures to start with! I posted some of my most favorites here in the beginning of the month before we left for Disney. Here are a few more of my favorites from the day. And I think the funniest part of the day were the self-named passive agressive bridesmaids. They appointed themselves and picked out their own matching outfits to wear to the wedding. I don’t think the bride knew she even had bridesmaids until they showed up that day. The whole album is on the left side of the blog under "the mas wedding". Enjoy! And if you have something nice to say about the pictures or the bride & groom, or the passive- agressive bridesmaids, please leave a comment below. I love comments!

turning ONE (in pink)
Had a shoot on Saturday for little Miss J, who recently turned one. A big deal indeed. Both she and her big sister were dressed to the 9’s and very, very pink. Which made me happy as I loved the dresses, plus the fact that there WERE dresses. I don’t get that much around here.
Both girls had some pretty bad colds, so all things considered I think we did pretty well. We had already rescheduled the shoot once about 2 weeks prior and the poor kids were still sick. Poor mom was on tissue duty/snot patrol with the baby, and I had her running.
The cake shots were my favorite to take- that little girl LOVED her cake! She just dug right in, sticking her hands in first, then her whole face- right in. And when the cake portion was done according to mom, she really freaked out that someone was taking her cake away. Really. freaked. Needed a video camera for that one as she started grabbing for the cake with both hands and looking at her mom like she was nuts. Taking the cake away- not happy.
I sorta snuck my way upstairs to the girls very pink room against mom’s wishes, but in the end I think she was happy we were up there. It was almost pink overload, but it was so different for me and I liked it. Girls are fun.

Disney 2008: Day 7 {Magic Kingdom}- yes, again.
Our last day in the World. But we sucked every last bit of fun out of it that we could. Breakfast at Crystal Palace and visits with Pooh and friends (this time we got to see everyone). We went on Jungle Cruise hoping that when we got off the dream team would be there waiting for us to award us another night in Cinderella Castle. Didn’t happen this year unfortunately. We all kinda just stood there after getting off the ride waiting. I think we all said "okay, we’re ready. where are you?"
But we did go visit Daniel in City Hall. Daniel was our 2nd shift castle/park guide when we won last year. He’s very nice and so fun and gave us lots of tricks/tips on the rides (like how to get a high score on Buzz, that the last row on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the best/fastest, twirled us like crazy on the teacups, gave us all the turns and drops on Space Mountain before they happened so the boys wouldn’t be scared on their first ride on it). He had been on a Disney cruise when we first arrived in the world this trip so we were happy we got to see him before we left. Not to be outdone by Jeff’s gift of 10 fastpasses, Daniel gave us 15 more!! So we rode everything that whole day without waiting. It made for a super special last day.
We had our last dinner at Tony’s Town Square (love that Pesto and bread) and left the park around 7pm. It was another Pirate and Princess party that night so that meant there was no Wishes that night. Which was sad but probably for the best cause I always tear up watching/listening to it– and being our last night, I woulda definitely lost it.
Did all the souvenir shopping that day in the MK and then again later that night in the POP gift shop. Packed up and got ready to leave. We tried to see Camie and family on the trip, but it just didn’t work out. Hopefully next year- if we go back that is. The magical express was really great and our luggage made it home fine (unlike last year, where they put our luggage on a different flight). And while it was good to be going home I would’ve much rather stayed at Cinderella Castle instead.
Hoping we’ll be back next year. Bye, Disney.

Disney 2008: Day 6 {Epcot}
Another late start to the day, but we managed to get ourselves over to Epcot in the early afternoon. Went on the Finding Nemo ride first thing, followed by Turtle Talk with Crush. The Nemo ride was cute but not really a whole lot to it- I thought the beach theming in the que area was better than the ride itself. Turtle talk was so great- very interactive. The boys all sat on the floor up front and Patrick got picked to ask Crush a question (the dude in the green and white shell. He asked Crush if he ate any species in the ocean.) and they really dug it. We visited the little aquarium set up they had and saw some cool fish. At Jack’s request we ate lunch at the cantina in Mexico- and it was really, really good. Even Timmy liked the chicken and chips. While Timmy napped by the lake with Daddy, the big boys and I braved the 75 minute wait for Soarin’. They did have good games to play on the screens while waiting, but it was still a loooooooong wait. The ride itself was really good (Jack didn’t even mind the orange smell wafting in while we were flying over the California citrus farm), but we will definitely have to fast pass that one next time. There were no fast passes left by the time we got there. Live and learn. We also went to the "Honey, I shrunk the audience" show, where the boys had freaked out when they were little. Timmy did pretty well but didn’t like the "mice"- neither did the big boys this time either- or the snake. But we went over to the cool jumping water fountain thing right after the ride and that was so fun. Timmy got a little wet, but not too much.
We went to Teppan Edo (habachi style) for dinner in Japan. The food was good and Timmy liked the steak with dip. Inatome here is much better, though. Heard Off Kilter playing on our way around the world showcase- they were really good. Picked up a pin from Norway for Jack’s assistant teacher and did some sightseeing before going back to "Epcot" (which is what Timmy calls the big ball that is spaceship earth) and finding the sparkling streets and the fiberoptic designs in the sidewalks. If we had gotten there earlier, we would have hit more of the attractions, but we were tired and done. Had some fun taking some shots in the numbers back at the hotel. One more day to go….
