a three pound deck chair & emergency wrapping
You know that expression…"like a deck chair off the titanic"? Well, my deck chair was 3 pounds this week upon weigh in at Weight Watchers. So three pounds the first week wasn’t bad (Beth beat me by .6 pounds- ugh) and it’s at least some progress. Trying to be so good and it’s so hard. So. hard. But I’m doing it. And checking in here can only help keep me on track.
We had an emergency on the wrapping front tonight. Jack needed one of his school text books covered. And really, I’m no good at that at all. Which really is surprising with all my craftiness of scrapbooking, right? But wrapping things is not within the realm of my craftiness- presents, books, etc. They come out all lumpy with an excess of paper and crooked. So I called for reinforcements- My mom! All my textbooks in elementary school were always wrapped perfectly with brown paper bags. No tape, just wrapped. And they stuck the whole year. Like a little miracle. So, she wrapped Jack’s book tonight and all was right with the world.

The pow christening– finally!!
My apologies to everyone who was waiting on these pictures. I know it has been a while in coming, but here they all are at last. Hope it was worth the wait. The album is over on the left, click on any image to see it bigger. I previewed a bunch of my favorites back in December when I first blogged about the christening- but here are a few more for your viewing enjoyment.

the mal girls- headshots & more
A last minute shoot on Sunday for the Mal girls- I’m sure you recognize them from many previous shoots on the blog. They are cousins of the baby I am the personal paparazzi to. This was one of those shoots that was just ON. We rocked the morning and I got some AWESOME shots. The girls are so super sweet (not to mention so beautiful!) and I think by now they are getting used to me, so I managed to get some genuine smiles. They needed some headshots as they may have an opportunity to be in a big movie soon. Great job, girls! And happy birthday, M!! Mom, hope you love them too- now comes the hard part– choosing! Obviously. looking at the number of pictures here, I had a very hard time myself. Everything just clicked on this shoot- the girls, the light, the colors, the focus. Love these shots!

Saturday’s shoot: the denn family
Had a really fun shoot on Saturday with the Denn family and their cute little 7 month old son, D. The house we shot at wasn’t theirs as they live a ways away, but their friends who live locally and were good enough to let me invade for a while Saturday afternoon. This house has amazing light and very little furniture in some rooms which just made my day! Little D wasn’t much of a smiler- well, for me anyway. But he is a boy who likes to live on the edge! When his dad was startling him, he was laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world. Silly noises, songs, faces…nothing else did the trick. He had to be scared to laugh! Got some really cute ones regardless. Love his giant saucer brown eyes!

the she family session- from before xmas
This was a session that a very thoughtful husband put together for his wife as a suprise Christmas gift. How much do we love that!! I know the kids from the beach club and from town so they were pretty at ease with me, which did away with the "warm up" period. That ended up being good as we had limited time to sneak into the house while mom was out, take the pictures, and return everything to normal -including the kids changing clothes back into the ones they were wearing before I got there. The aunt/sister was there along with her daughter and they were a huge help. Dad was out of town. Apparently, we really pulled it off and she was very surprised on Christmas! Way to go, family!
