    lexi’s bat mitzvah

    Besides the fact that I had the hardest time wrapping my head around this whole day, it was totally wonderful! The reason? Ivy (lexi’s mom) is my oldest friend  since we were 8 years old. We were at eachothers Bat Mitzvahs about 100 years ago, went to camp together for 6 years, a teen tour across america together, were roommates for a year in Long Beach, in eachothers wedding parties, had babies a year apart, all those milestones and memories. And her daughter getting Bat Mitzvah’d was almost too much to comprehend! But she did, and Ivy asked me to take photos which I was more than happy to do. Get comfy, it’s a lot of pictures!

    The Bat Mitzvah girl herself. Didn’t she look lovely?

    Just to clarify, Ivy & Jon have been divorced for a few years now but everyone really got along great on Lexi’s special day. Lexi’s theme was candy. Temple Avodah in Oceanside. They don’t allow photography during the ceremony so I came before to take a few photos and then met them at the party. Lexi’s step-family. I’m sure (if you are a blog stalker) that you’ll remember Ivy & Steve’s wedding.

    A quick shout out to Warehouse 5 in Barnum Island for an amazing venue and party! I highly recommend them for your next event.

    the bart girls

    My gorgeous, sweet “nieces”. The oldest one is now in her freshman year in college which totally blows my mind! When John and I were just starting dating, I remember him telling me he was going to her christening to be her godfather. All the girls are so fantastic, great friends to my boys. So happy to have them and their parents in our lives! And…this was my LAST holiday session for 2011!

    the dost family {mini session}

    Well, the session started off really well. But about 5 minutes in the little girl tripped on her new shoes and took a faceplant right onto the pavement on the bridge. There was crying, boogers and blood everywhere with a really nice fat lip and scrapes all over her chin. She somehow pulled it together with a little help from mom, dad & her great big brothers (and the iphone) and we washed away the blood and tears (mostly) and continued on with our session.

    I think Mom was very pleasantly surprised that we got anything good of little miss after her big spill, but somehow we did!

    the mro family {mini session}

    Another great family I’m sure you’ll recognize if you are a blog stalker (which of course I hope you are!) from their son’s communion earlier this year. They are actually really good friends with my awesome photografriend Shira who was trying to fit them into her schedule but she was booked and I had a last minute opening for them. It’s so, so SO nice to have great photografriends that help eachother out and share clients so nicely. Shira and I have a few in common and I thik we share pretty well!

    Are they not delicious? Thanks so much L for all the singing for your little miss. I think it paid off!
