    10 for Tuesday

As usual, the pictures have nothing to do with the 10. Just something nice to look at. They are just a few from a communion this weekend where I took pictures and we were also guests.

    1. I don’t know if I’ll make it all the way to 10 today. Do my best though.

    2. We are off to Jamaica (the island, not Queens) tomorrow until Sunday. At least I am. Waiting for clearance from the doctor for Timmy. More on that in a minute. I have my Xanax all ready for the flight and I’m really looking forward to a great weekend down there with sun, sand, and a fabulous wedding to shoot! Have I mentioned that I love my job? I’m going to Jamaica to shoot a wedding. And someone’s paying me to! Unbelieveable!!

    3. If you didn’t read yesterday’s blog post, just a quick recap. Timmy spent the night (from 9pm to 2:10am) in the ER at Winthrop. His asthma was really kicking up despite nebulizing him with Albuterol all day on Sunday. He was really wheezy and sounded tight and was panting/retracting. And needing another treatment every 2hrs instead of every 4. It was pretty scary for both of us but they took really good care of him at the hospital. It was craaaaazy busy in the ER last night. He seems to be doing a little better and now has a prescription for oral steroids in addition to the albuteral via nebulizer every 4hrs. Plus the generic zyrtec and the a/c on full blast in his room. I’m hoping it helps.— UPDATE: Just back from the Dr. and we are good to go to Jamaica. Timmy too. The wheeze is gone! Still have to nebulize every 4hrs today, every 6hrs tommorrow, every 8 on Thurs, etc. and stay on steriods for another 2 days. But he’s better and I’m so relieved.

    4. Saw the oddest thing possibly ever in the history of seeing odd things. I saw these 3 large african american men in the parking lot of Target today. They were kinda scary looking (and okay, before you get all politically correct on me- they weren’t scary because they were black guys, they would’ve been scary no matter what race they were) and big and tough and tattooed and gang looking. But… they were flying kites. In the parking lot of Target. Huh.

    5. Not sending Timmy to school today so looks like I’m missing my highlights appointment (which I really could have used) and Pilates (which I also really could’ve used). Hope to reschedule for when I get back.

    6. Patrick has lost 3 teeth in the last 2 weeks but needs to have another 4 pulled according to the orthodontist. The kid is going to be the toothless wonder.

    7. Just saw my cousin (cousin in law technically) on TV in an SNY commercial. The ‘ball buster’ one with the cops in the store. Go Billy!!! Tried to find it on YouTube but couldn’t.

    8. Not sure if the blackberry will work in Jamaica or not. So if you email or call me while I’m away you may or may not get a reply. If not, I’ll get back to everyone on Monday or Tuesday. If I don’t die in a firey plane crash that is.

    9. Just booked 5 shoots in the last 2 days. Not many spots on the calendar thru the end of July. The Sept-Dec calendar will be available at the beginning of June so be on the lookout for that.

    10. Good music makes editing go much faster. In heavy rotation on my playlist at the moment: Tighten Up (the black keys), Kandi (one eskimo), Shimmer (fuel), Sweet Disposition (the temper trap), Avalon (roxy music), Waiting for somebody (paul westerberg), Skinny Love (bon iver), Let Go (the turn), I Turn my Camera On (spoon), Shoot you Down (apb), Long Black Veil (Dave Matthews), House of Cards (radiohead), Watching the Detectives (elvis costello), One Tree Hill (u2) and about a zillion more. What are you listening to?

    Hah, I made it.

    the amal baby

Please excuse the lack of narrative today. I was at the ER last night (from 9pm-2am) with Timmy due to some bad asthma. We’re back home and he’s doing okay (not great but okay) and I just wanted to get back to the blog before going to Jamaica later this week to shoot the destination wedding. Whether I’m going to be going by myself or with the boys and John now remains to be seen. Never a dull moment.

But, on the bright side check out this gorgeous baby girl and her equally gorgeous and proud parents I had the opportunity to do a newborn shoot for recently.

And although the pictures seem to say otherwise, she was awake THE ENTIRE 2 hours of our shoot. She had a nice full belly, was warm and happy, but just wouldn’t sleep. Maybe she thought she was going to miss something. She did finally fall asleep like the last 20 minutes of the shoot but was then up again. The funniest thing is that all the relatives who come by to visit say they only wish they could see her with her eyes open cause she’s so sleepy all the time.  She’s only 11 days old!! Just works out that way sometimes I guess, but it was all good cause I still got some great shots!

Hope you enjoy them and I hope you continue to enjoy your new baby girl! She’s beautiful…and awake!!

    the onde christening

I had the pleasure of photographing this littlest guy’s christening. I’ve been lucky enough to take photos for this family a few times now and was so happy to meet and photograph their newest addition.

His godmother got to help with the dressing in the over 100 year old communion gown. This little guy just adores his godfather already- he stared at him and smiled at him the whole time he was putting on the cross. So cute.

Fighting the lighting and the rules in church, not to mention the very badly placed (for me) pillars, I still got a few of the actual baptism which always makes me happy. He was such a brave boy and didn’t cry at all. So good!

And the smell after the baby is annointed with the oil- love that!! I touched his head while trying to position him a little and my hands smelled like that oil the rest of the day. Nice.

The oldest boy is also making his First Communion soon (if it didn’t happen already) so I grabbed a few shots of him in his communion suit since he was all dressed up.

Thanks for letting me meet your newest addition and having me out to capture his special day. Many blessings to all of you!

    the fuen family

What do you get when mom is Irish, and Dad is from El Salvador? Drop dead gorgeous kids! This is apparently a really good combination of nationalities and genes!

Not to mention mom’s fabulous sense of style for her little girl. I about dropped my camera when I saw the outfit- I was that excited!!

The oldest boy was a complete chatter box and a sweet thing who was so good and worked the shoot hard! The phone is going to be ringing off the hook for this one in a few years!

The littlest boy really was NOT having it. Any of it. At all. He just eyed me warily the whole shoot (well, when he wasn’t crying), but I did manage to get a few tiny smiles out of him- mostly when mom was holding him.

Loved the fun props they brought along- especially the flags. What a great way to have the whole heritage represented.

Thanks for a great shoot and for keeping cool even when things weren’t going exactly as planned. Hope you enjoy your pictures!

    the cree communion

I have no doubt whatsoever that you will remember this gorgeously stunning family from their many other bsquared shoots. Well, the gorgeousness has only increased (how is that even possible) and I was so happy to be asked to take pictures for D’s Communion. I mean, really- how is it possible to have this many good looking people in one family? And they are as nice and kind as they look in the photos.

There was a lot of “can I be done?” going on with the kids, but as soon as we said they could climb the tree the being done didn’t seem to come up as much. And yes, he climbed the tree in white pants. Stop cringing- he was actually still clean afterwards!

The party, by the way, was absolutely amazing with a carnival theme including games, tickets, prizes, face painting, contests, tattoos, and a great DJ too. I really think everyone there had a blast.

There were lots of family and friends on hand to help celebrate D’s special day.

I had such a great time at the party I felt more like a guest than the photographer, so thank you for all of your hospitality and awesomeness, C family!! Hope you enjoy your pictures!!
