Happy Thanksgiving!
The camera didn’t make it out much today with all the cooking, preparing, eating, and cleaning up. Sad, I know, but sometimes it just can’t be helped. I did take some pictures of my nephews and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and all the grandsons with grandma.
None of the grandma ones came out very well. I think my settings must have been off or something. Have to try again. We had a 30.27 pound turkey for 21 people. Somehow, it was done cooking in 5.5 hours! John was a huge help and basted all day, I even got to sleep in a little this morning. It was very, very needed. I felt much better today than I have in a while. We had a really, really nice Thanksgiving with everyone pitching in quite a lot. I think this year I finally managed to give up a lot of my control over the day, and just let everyone help. I am so over that "perfect" Thanksgiving. The food wasn’t any different this year than it was in past years, but with letting stuff go, I was a hell of a lot more relaxed. Which was so nice. All the cousins played together so nicely and I think everyone had a fun time (especially with the Wii).
Nelson came by and helped out a bunch last night. He pre-prepared the turkey for cooking. That thing was so huge that I couldn’t have managed it on my own.
He’s so handy to have around. I highly reccommend everyone having a chef as a BFF. I got my new lens on Tuesday but didn’t even get a chance to take it out of the box until last night. I’m not loving it- it is so monsterously huge and heavy and that along with some other issues about it that I don’t love is making me think it might be getting returned. Still doing some research on what I might replace it with but the jury is still out. I might give it another go tommorrow, but for the amount of $ I paid for it, it should make me so happy that I am exploding. I am not exploding. The picture of Nelson is with it. It’s okay, but I’m not really able to use it in low light settings without a flash. And you all know how I feel about the flash.
Going to be a very, very busy weekend. Two shoots tommorrow, three on Saturday, three on Sunday. Going to try to take the boys to a surprise outing tommorrow (Friday) night. Dinner with the twin girls and their parents Saturday night- after a photoshoot for them!
Off to bed. I might get a whole 8 hrs tonight. I can hardly even imagine…

Sunday’s shoots: the mcc family
Ahhhh, the last one from the weekend. Feel like I made a new friend in the mom- she’s so awesome! But she’s a hitter (you know, like Elaine from Seinfeld, when she got excited she would shove) so I kept showing her things from FAAAAAR away! She has fantastic shabby-chic taste and I loved her decorating. The soft color of the photos I think will work really well with her decor.
This was a challenging shoot for sure. NO natural light to speak of. A busy and fast 21 month old. A 7 week old baby who didn’t want to sleep (we like sleeping babies so then we can squish them into cool positions). But even with all of those things working against us, I think we got some really great shots. Hope you love them, J and J. Buzz lightyear didn’t make the final cut. Please apologize to W for me!

Sunday’s shoots: the arg family
LOVED this shoot! Not only are all the subjects gorgeous, I had a great time at Ms.A’s house, and I got to feed the baby. Must say that I didn’t miss that disgusting formula smell (the baby is on soy formula-*shudder*) but the feeding/holding part was so fun. Don’t get any ideas. I liked doing it, and then giving the baby right back!
Anyway, this is Ms.A and her family which has now grown by one little baby girl. She was Jack’s teacher for first grade and I just adore her. She is soooo warm and fuzzy and such a great teacher. (The Pow baby’s mom was Patrick’s first grade teacher- we lucked out on teachers and we LOVED 1st grade!!) Jack was so excited that I was doing this shoot and was dying to come along. Their older daughter is just the cutest thing ever! Did you ever see the movie Curly Sue? Well, this is her, just younger, sweeter, and blonder! We had lots of fun. Well, when Ms.A wasn’t driving me nuts! I hope you love them M!

Sunday’s shoots: [mini-session] the rya family
A good friend of mine and her family. They used to share a locker with us down at the beach, but we have since all outgrown our little tiny closet, and now we both have our own lockers down there. Their middle child and my twins are the same age and their dad is my boys religion teacher. So lots going on between the two of us!
Their little girl was far less than happy to see me today. I think we managed to nab a few shots of her though. Hopefully enough for a card anyway! The boys were so great and did everything I asked of them- so thanks, guys!

Saturday shoots: [mini-session: the amb family]
Can’t get away from the good looking kids! Loved these two seriously irish looking ones. They were FREEZING but they really pulled it together and did a great job. And the little girl was sorta upset about her temporary tattoo on her arm that wouldn’t budge. So I promised her I would photoshop it out– which I did. Loved her in her poofy red dress- princess of the woods! And the little boy couldn’t have more twinkle in his eye. Such a lady-killer already. Oh, these parents are in BIG trouble!
This was the last shoot for Saturday…now on to Sunday’s three.
